TheCoolTV vs. Vh1 Classic

It would appear that TheCoolTV has been trying to become the new Vh1 Classic. They played Holiday videos from 6 pm on 12/24 through 6 pm on 12/25. And right now, they're doing a year-end A to Z countdown, which started yesterday afternoon at 2 pm, and will run through midnight on New Year's Eve. I remember Vh1 Classic did a very similar thing a few years ago called "2009 for 2009," except it started at midnight on New Year's Eve, and lasted for 7 days. But they went in order by song titles, and this one is going in order by artists, and I think it's just one song per artist.

In general, it would actually appear that Vh1 Classic has been phasing out airing music videos. Until a few months ago, they did have a block of random videos every morning from 6 am to 9 am, but it has been replaced with their usual rock docs or whatever they're called, and they now air classic Pop-up Video episodes, presumably to coincide with the regular Vh1's revival of the series. Vh1 Classic still airs Rock Fest, Totally 80s, and Metal Mania. TheCoolTV has very similar blocks of programming, such as the 80s at Eight. I think TheCoolTV is better for music videos, but there is no format at all, and they play a lot of music that I don't think anyone has ever heard before.

The only thing I don't like about TheCoolTV, which I now can view online on their website via the TheCoolTV app, is they play the latest music, play blocks like Reggae Vibe and The Block, play Time Life infomercials, and like every subchannel they have E/I requirements. FCC no doubt. I understand the infomercials though as they have to make money.

With VH1 Classic phasing out Morning Video Block, the random videos you referring to, it makes me wonder if they will eventually phase out Rock Fest, Totally 80s, and Metal Mania for more music related programming rather than music videos. I liked it when they do 80s videos A-Z marathons. VH1 Classic was better when they played music videos all the time and was commercial free, which I didn't have at that time

^The Cool Music Network (TheCoolTV) is not required to broadcast educational and informative (E/I) programming, just the network affiliates. The programming helps those affiliates meet the requirements.

Did they change the name of the show "We Are The 80's" or is this a totally (no pun intended) different show?

Well I checked VH1 Classics schedule on their website and they are going bring back the block of random videos but it will be only on every morning, Mon-Fri actually, from 6 am to 8 am

They show an E/I program on CoolTV. It airs Monday-Friday at 430PM Eastern. It's the same E/I show that they air on NBC+ here in Hartford.

Found out the name of the show is "Ariel & Zoey & Eli Too". ::)

The Luken networks also air this program to meet their E/I quotas. I'm not sure for how long since the syndicator that handled sales for the program dropped it from its website.

Re: "Totally 80's": Shows how much I watch that channel. The most I've ever watched VH1 Classic was during the MTV 25th anniversary tribute and on JetBlue flights.
