How many of you are getting this on a DTV channel now?

I quite like it. Kind of reminds me The Tube, I hope it doesn't suffer the same fate (however, DTV was newer and less popular back then). Strictly music videos from what I can see. The 80s @ 8 feature looks cool. Right now it's mostly on Sinclair, LIN and Journal stations.... I think my local cable company has added it also. They have some themed shows.

40.3 in my market has added another music network entitled The Country Network that is popping up on Sinclair stations. Not on cable yet.

I can't believe anyone is still producing music videos. I love music on the radio, but I can't sit there and watch it.

I remember reading a story on allaccess.com about music videos making a comeback because of YouTube.
 
I wish it would come to Chicago. The only stations I could see picking up TheCoolTV would be WFLD, WPWR-TV (both owned by Fox & have no subchannels at the moment), or Weigel Broadcasting & place it on a subchannel to WWME-LD (highly doubt it &WCIU bandwidth is maxed out). I doubt WJYS would pick it up since they're committed to their infomercials & brokered religious programming. I definitely don't want Polnet picking it up since I hear that they can't get RTV to stay in clear on WPVN-LD, & RTV is on the main channel, whereas Polvision (Polish language programming) is on 24.4. Their signal is limited primarily to the northern suburbs of Chicago, but does reach most of Chicago, & nearby western suburbs.

Once summer rolls around, maybe I'll see if I can get WLFI Lafayette Indiana, now that they're on RF 11, & sends more of their signal north toward Gary Indiana (unlike when they were on RF 18 with limited coverage). They have TheCoolTV, but not sure what version they have, since TheCoolTV can be customized, unlike The Tube, but I liked The Tube.
 
Man, I miss The Tube. Another case of a BRILLIANT idea, MASTERFULLY packaged... but unfortunately a bit ahead of its time. I watched it almost all of the time. The more mainstream stuff was tolerable, but the magic happened at night and on Sunday afternoons. The idea that I was watching "How Soon Is Now" by the Smiths on the same station (WDAM - Hattiesburg, MS) which had a history of preempting or attempting to preempt the less "bible-thumper friendly" content from NBC (from an episode of SNL with Andrew Dice Clay to the "Friends" lesbian wedding) was mindblowing. I'm going to check this out... and put up an antenna if anyone within 90 miles of Greenville, MS decides to air it.
 
I guess it does have a market, but most music vids can be seen on YouTube in varying quality :) Plus the artist's website usually has them as well.

It's hard to program music to mainstream as tastes are so different and with the Internet and P2P music for any taste is available on demand

I find most music videos aren't worth watching. I usually watch them at the gym and it always seems to be the same thing. Guys without shirts and women in clothes that are too tight. Of course being at a gym, that channel probably selects those particular videos because of the bodies :)

Uhh.. They didn't have music videos when "Bohemian Rhapsody" was originally released in the 70's. The song was re-released as a single when it was featured in Wayne's World and hit the top 10. That's the only "music video" that was ever made for that song.
 
Good Channel. I don't care what anyone says. M-TV doesn't play videos anymore, so I sure the hell am not going to complain about a channel that does.
 
It's available here in Connecticut via WCTX-DT 59-2 of New Haven (owned by LIN Broadcasting under an LMA agreement). My newer Sanyo 26" LCD HDTV tunes the channel directly on the QAM tuner as 59-2. My older model from 2006 is placing it on 47-2 (but it doesn't place any local on their correct channel anyways).
 
MTV might not play music videos other then on their AMtv which airs in early morning hours. But their is still one MTV that airs music videos 24/7 and that is MTV Hits ;)

I have to correct you there - promo clips for hit songs have been made since the late 60's (possibly earlier), generally when the artist was too busy to travel to promote the song themselves. The Beatles even did 'em. (And from the record companies' perspective, they were a great way to sink a lot of "promotional costs" to ensure that up and coming bands never made enough to pay off their advances - but that's another story for another time.) But, yes, when Wayne's World was released, a video incorporating Wayne and Garth singing the song (as seen in the movie) was put out alongside it...but the original Queen clip is definitely an ancestor to the 80's music video.
 
I think I'd really like it if the programming wasn't so all over the board. They go from classic hits to current hits to everything in between. I suppose I view them in the same light as a radio station -- if the programming isn't consistent, it's hard to keep people tuned in.
 
I hope TheCoolTV goes on-air down here, or hopefully Time Warner gets it. I'm sure KCAL 9 is not going to put it on its subchannel since CBS never uses them (IMO TheCool should be on KCAL as it's a perfect fit, knowing they have Jack FM in the cluster), I doubt Fox would, and of course no way it'll end up on KABC or KNBC. Maybe KDOC can get it, but I just hope KFLA-LD doesn't get it. Only about 10 people in LA can get that station because of it's whopping 300 watts of power! ;D
 
I've seen them play 80s classics and the go into a current song. As for actual programming, I'm only seeing them run an 80s block each night at 8 pm ET.
 
I'm hoping they secure an affiliate here in the Seattle area soon (KONG, or KFFV).

KDOC would be a good fit for them. As far as it happening on a CBS O&O getting it, don't count on it. The CBS/CW/Indy stations they own I guess were mandated not to have any subchannels, and have the full channel bandwidth dedicated to 1080i. KTLA could be a possibility also, but it would be sharing bandwidth most likely with Antenna TV (which actually would be a good fit also).
