Theory of a Deadman: The "new" Nickelback?

I know many of TOAD's song's are inspired by failed relationships their lead singer has had. This band is really striking me as more of a Nickelback "with an edge". Slightly more fun to listen to, not quite as schmaltzy, but definately chick rock.

Discuss.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Ever since their first single "Nothing Could Come Between Us" hit the airwaves three or four years ago, they have had that Nickelback Jr. sound to them. I even remember one of the local radio stations playing a mix with that song on top of two other Nickelback songs to point out the similarities. As far as I'm concerned Hinder, Theory Of A Deadman, Shinedown, Nickelback, and Saving Abel....all pretty much the same band to me. Could almost lump 3 Doors Down in that group too.

Also really have no place on Alternative stations. Some bands that can slide are Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace since (especially the former) they seem to draw on more influences besides straight up AOR rock. Those dubious bands you mention are exactly what the Alternative revolution was trying to rebel against. I guess corporate rock wins again...

I'm with Dr. Pickle. Not alternative, just another garbage "butt rock" band like Nickelback, Hinder, etc.

Most Nickelback is slow and boring, although they do have a few good songs. At least most Theory of a Deadman songs have some balls to them and they Rock.

The only song that Theory Of A Deadman has that even comes close to "rocking" is "Bad Girlfriend" and, even then, the lyrics are so juvenile and embarrasing that it's hard to overlook them in favor of the slightly (and I mean slightly) cool riffs. Also, that much processed distortion and auto-tune makes me sick.

The Nickelback singer discovered, signed, produced, and took them on tour in america. I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote or co wrote some songs.

I can't stand them yet they get a free pass for bringing back the term d**k magnet. That's just awesome.

What about "Invisible Man"?

That song blows. Straight up Nickelback-lite.

Yeah, that song is worse than Bad Girlfriend.

Interesting how strong a comeback the "butt" rock has made recently. From 'Addicted' by Saving Abel to the aforementioned 'Bad Girlfriend.' Then you've got the new Nickelback single 'Something In Your Mouth'......oh boy. Innuendo all over the place.

Since my cds are now being put on an I-pod I have nothing to listen to at the moment. Therefore, Im actually listening to commercial rock stations. The dj was good, but nobody cares about that anymore anyway. The station played the usual garden variety radio rock and I was fine with it. However, this travesty of a song by butt crack came on and I almost went into convulsions.
