ThePowerPig.com and Q105TampaBay.com

I've been trying to go to these two tribute sites that I remember hearing about last year, and they're both having issues. Did someone order that these sites be shut down or something?

Hi Byron-
I was/am the webmaster of both of those websites. I sunk alot of time, effort and passion into them both. I still have the sites and own the domains but had issues with stable servers. In August of 2005, I became the APD/night guy of 104-5 WSNX/Grand Rapids plus do shows for Kiss FM/Toledo and Channel 9-5-5/Detroit so my priorities shifted to those responsibilities. The current positions I hold are seriously positions I dreamed of having for 10 years of my radio career, that's why the websites kind of took a back seat.

I would LOVE to get the sites up and running again. ThePowerPig.com is an OUTSTANDING and extensive radio history site and Q105TampaBay.com was on it's way to the same level. If someone has suggestions of where I could host the sites, I would love to hear them. While I am extremely passionate about both sites, they don't generate $$$ so paying for hosting isn't really an option, but if someone has server space to accomodate them, I am all ears at [email protected].

And to answer your question, no, no one made us take them down whatsoever. I have always had every blessing from everyone mentioned on and involved with ThePowerPig.com. And while I've had some objections from a few regarding Q105TampaBay.com, the fact is that Q105 was a HUGE part of Tampa Bay CHR history and deserves it's own site. Those who ever objected were only upset that they hadn't done it themselves first.

For those who were/are fans of ThePowerPig.com, be assured that I have every bit of it all saved and when the right situation exists, I will put it back up in full and then some. =-)

Brian-

Nice to hear you're doing well in GR... it's where I had my first F/T radio news gig, 1985-87 at WOOD AM/FM, when Skip Essick was the PD (and there were only two stations). It's a great town, and ya gotta love the beaches (in the summer anyway). The stations used to be in College Park Plaza downtown (corner of Lyon & Division), and there was the greasiest burger joint ever right across the street- boy, those were good... Plus you've got the fish ladder, the Gerry Ford Museum, DeVos Hall and the Amway Grand!

Sorry I can't offer you any free server space right now, but I'm glad to hear things are percolating for you in G-d's country in West Michigan...

holy cow, geez, Gene Lindsay... there's a name I never thought I'd hear again. Whatever happened to Wendy Robbins? She was great... one of the best bosses I ever had in the radio biz. I was sad when she left Airwatch.

Hi Gene !!
I was gonna e-mail you directly but I didnt see an e-mail address in your profile.
GR is a great town. Living and working in downtown GR has been a great experience.
WOOD AM/FM are both in with my station (WSNX) only four blocks away from Division & Lyon.
WOOD AM of course is still the great N/T station of the market.
Skip, until last week, was our market GM and was an incredible guy to work for. He was the deciding factor in my coming here from Florida.
He has left to become the PD of a 50kw N/T in Fresno so he's back to his roots.

What are you doing these days? Drop me a line at [email protected]
And tell Daisy hi for me !

And it's a name you may never hear again, as I've abandoned it for my real name. Never much liked the "Lindsey" part anyway. I used the airname "Bob Dark" from '74-'85, then my real name at WOOD and WFAS from '85-'95. Rich Carey made me take an airname when I started at WHNZ on 1/2/96; something evocative of Lindsey Nelson, or maybe Ted Lindsay. Or maybe it was Lindsey Buckingham... An anglicized version of "Lisansky" perhaps.

Wendy is still in the Tampa Bay area. Not sure what she's doing. I was sad when she left Airwatch too...

Brian--
Wow, Skip is gone again. I remember when he left to manage WHAS, then came back to the Great Lake State, to WJR I think, then back to WOOD. Didn't know he was orgininally a CA boy. He lived and breathed radio when I was at WOOD ('85-'87), and was a great guy to work for. He knows how to motivate, and knows what good radio is.
GR wasn't much of a hard news town (auto industry, Amway, Steelcase, yawn), but I did have memorable interviews with Jack Kemp, Gerry Ford, Chevy Chase, Harry Belafonte, and Dr Ruth there. I left in 1987 for Westchester (NY) and had a teachers strike, a passenger train wreck, and a multi-fatality fire my first week there. More of what I was looking for at the time.

Daisy says "howdy", and I'll drop you a line directly via e-mail.

Brian, I'm interested in getting these sites back online again. I'll email you with some more information.

Thanks,
Byron

I'm happy to announce we've secured server space for thepowerpig.com ! I have a relaunch date of October 1st in my head but it will all depends on how much time my actual radio duties allow me to work on it.

There were several offers to help us get the sites back up and running and we really appreciate that. The one we went with was an obvious perfect fit and we thank those that made it happen.

As soon as we get the Power Pig site back up, we'll look into get Q105TampaBay.com back up as well.
