There is a big change coming to LI

Are you saying we're getting a local "Jack" on L.I.?

I'm not positive, but I thought all the Jacks were Infinity. I don't believe there are any Infinity stations on the island. Plus, doesn't our New York City Jack cover enough of the island?

And on top of that, if a Long Island station is flipping to Jack, that would mean a slew of fired jocks. Between Barnstable, Cox, WALK and the East End groups, there aren't enough jobs to go around. With ex-TMO people still scrambling, I can only imagine the amount of out of work DJ's this would create.

Flipping to JACK in NYC hasn't paid off yet. Why would a local station make a move, in a much more severely locally served market? TMO, with its casting/ brokering format, seems the only candidate. With Mr. Morey Sr. involved, it could become a "Ron" format!

92.1 JACK FM

There's a high chance that WLNG will get Jacked soon. ;-)<P ID="signature">______________

A "high chance"? Does that mean if you're high, you think there's a chance?

Something tells me that it isn't about JACK.

The chances of WLNG changing its format are some where between Slim and none and Slim just got on a train out of town. Nobody tampers with success. Nobody.

Paul will flip the stereo switch on first before jack ever shows up.

All the stations set their clocks back one hour for daylight saving? ;-)

Infinity didn't tamper with success. It had a stations with billings that had fallen from $ 42 million to $ 34 million over a five year period. That is a very significiant amount of money and by percentage it is also dramatic. As much as I like oldies as a format, I can understand Infinity's decision from a business point of view.

On the other hand, all indications are that sales at WLNG continue to grow and that is why you won't see it change any time soon.

The only "Jack" I remember on WLNG was Kratoville, and that was before he made it big :) Well, there were a couple of other Jacks (Nolan comes to mind), but that goes back even farther... Oh yeah, and Jack Talcott, the original GM (who hired Paul).
Actually, I tried "92.1 Beulah FM", but that lasted about ten minutes before I got bored with it...
Try 1370AM from 10 - Noon... Now THAT'S a Jack!

Bob... chiming in from the gallery.

This got me to thinking ... and try as I might I could only think of two other Jacks that ever graced the Long Island airwaves .... of course the unforgettable Jack Spector, but another Jack comes to mind "Captain Jack Bli" from WBLI's early days. Nowadays I here he's involved with a dentist. ;)

I think we all know that nothing good has ever come from mixing radio and dentistry.
