There's been bloodshed on Oxford St.

If it's Corwin, GREAT! If it's anyone else, that sucks!

Corwin appears to be the only casualty so far, being replaced by Tom McConnell (of Kiss108 and others). Expect more cuts after Clear Channel's corporate meetings in Dallas after the first of the year.

So meet the new boss same as the old boss. Don't everybody get all optimistic over this. He's replaced by another CC person who will make the same kinds of decisions as the last one. Very few live and local people and PDs who know how to work with the suits but little else.

All I can say is... FINALLY! Jim Corwin was one of the most useless GMs in all of America. Terrible at managing people, very out of touch with his employees etc.

From what I hear, he was big on blowing money and energy on stupid things like comittees of employees looking to improve the quailty of life around the radio station etc. That stuff cost C.C. thousands of dollars while they were showing jocks and staff the door!

If you want to improve morale... hire a few people... give a few raises and learn peoples' names.

Adios!

I don't work there anymore, but I think I saw him twice, all the time I was there.
Most of us never understood what he was about. I don't know why he was against HJJ doing local.
The one thing I did find out and was amazed to hear, was Jim C. and Barbara Hanes are the best of friends.

There's talk on the San Antonio board about January 5th being a big layoff day at CC. Like 20% of the workforce. Naturally rumors are just rumors. I don't know if this link will work to that topic but it's on the San Antonio board

Of course that doesn't necessarily mean 20% cut in every market and in Providence the headcount is probably so low it would be hard to cut many and still have enough people to run the operation.
