They don't DJ like this anymore.....

I was loading up a couple of these Latin Rascals remixes from YouTube onto my Facebook profile. WOW!!!!!!!

Think about it, this was 1984. This was all done via reel-to-reel splicing! To do a mix like this in 4 hours, back in the day, was VERY tedious when you consider you had to splice at the right moment to get that effect...and that you had to do this MANY TIMES! There were no computers, like what we have today, where people can just use an audio file to make their own "splices" and samples. What these guys did was WAY ahead of their time!

I thanked Tony Moran personally, during the Winter Music Conference, for these remixes! VERY ahead of their time! :)

It sounds like NY radio today. hehe. Manhattan - the island where time stands still.

The good thing about back in the day is that when people didn't really have much (or anything important) to say, at least they just let the beats & instrumentals do the talking with a few dubs here and there. Nowadays, there's always this attempt to pack an entire song with as many vocals as possible while keeping the entire track to a minimal amount of length. Imagine today we'd be doing this to songs by Jay Sean, KE$HA, Akon, Black Eyed Peas, Ciara, Fergalicious, Birthday Sex (Uptempo remix), Flo Rida...etc. cutting up choruses, song lyrics and stuff, and trying to scratch up the ultimix edits of songs and stuff. This would be all in addition to stuttering or making the dumb lyrics in half of the current music repeat and scratch..

Awesome link JP!

Most songs on radio today tend to be a lil over 3 mins and there's really no room for dubs, intros or even outros. It's the ADD generation, ;D Where you have to grab their attention in the first few seconds before they turn the dial.
