They LOVE Jack in the IE

At least they do at the area Subways I frequent. But seriously, this last book has KCBS-FM/JACK just a point or two shy from getting back into the Top 10 after a long long dry spell. Other "trendy" observations; WILD 96 had its best book ever and the IE "KDAY" singnal is even starting to make some noise. Art Astor's make-over of KSPA and bringing the Angels back has not helped. The station has slipped off the radar again.

Actually, this was Wild's second best book, one tenth of a share lower than Summer 04. Still, the IE is certainly a strong rhythmic market with KGGI having it's best book in years and Wild doing good as well. Rhythmic is trending down in some markets right now, but not the IE.

ACTUALLY, KWIE had its best book ever 18-34 by a pretty big margin. KGGI was still No. 1 in that demo - so the shares are there. KCXX also made some inroads as well this book after re-positioning.

What we seem to see more and more is that the I.E. wants its own identity - and will listen to local radio when it is good - and frankly, there is some good radio out there with KGGI, KWIE, KCXX, KCAL, and KFRG to name a few.

Those of us in San Diego remember another, former KSPA. It was tried, and it died, and ain't nuthin' bringing' it back.
