They preempted that for this?

Once gathered that Al Schottelkotte of WCPO-TV/9 Cincinnati was disappointed with CBS News' (alleged) emphasis on stories abroad rather than national news and persuaded management to drop Walter Cronkite in favor of extended locally-produced suppertime newscast, for a brief period.

Unsure of exact period did they preempted CBS Evening News, and when they resumed running it.

WMYT is preempting and apparently not rescheduling their double runs of Young Sheldon and Modern Family on January 10 in order to air the Western Carolina-East Tennessee State basketball game at 7pm.

I never knew that, also WCNC (then WCPQ) preempted NBC Nightly News for a few years in the early 80s when it was owned by Westinghouse. (It may be mentioned earlier in this thread). I think WHKY picked it up. Neither WBTV nor WSOC were interested in picking it up. They already ran their own network news a half hour late due to hourlong local news.

KPNX (NBC Phoenix) for the most part this New Year's weekend is taking off in terms of news preempting their morning Today in AZ shows (sans Monday NYD) airing various local 12News specials in their place (also their weekly local political Sunday morning political show Sunday Square Off) & also during tomorrow afternoon as well with no NBC Sports programming for a second straight Sunday afternoon. Also, WFAA (ABC Dallas) preempting the ABC simulcast of ESPN Monday Night Countdown tonight leading into Lions/Cowboys to air their own local Cowboys pregame.

Monday January 15, 2024 there will be alot of pre-emptions and some changes to the schedule in Des Moines Iowa.

KDSM Fox 17 will be pre-empting all of its syndicated programming from 11am to 6pm for 2 basketball games and for bowling. The only show that will will air that was pre-empted is the 5:30pm episode of The Big Bang Theory which will air at 12:30am replacing the 2nd episode of iCrime.

KCCI 8 will be pre-empting primetime for the Iowa Caucuses and will reair the 3 hour NCIS that they pre-empt at 12:35am to 3:35am.

WHO 13 will pre-empt People Puzzlee at 1pm for a special presentation called A Grandmother's Dream. The 2nd episode of People Puzzler will still air at 1:30pm.

Then WHO 13 will pre-empt Wheel of Fortune at 6:30pm and America's Got Talent Fantasy League at 7pm for the Iowa Caucuses. Wheel of Fortune will air at 12:35am replacing encode episode of their 10pm Newscast. America's Got Talent Fantasy League will then air overnight from 2am to 4am.

There has been a slight change in plans. WBZ Boston will be airing PAA at 7pm ET this Friday January, 12th, this time in a half-hour format so this means Wheel will be airing at its usual time on WBZ's sister channel WBSK replacing the first half-hour repeat of TBBT so it's going to be yet another week before Wheel returns to WBZ.

Jeopardy will return to WBZ at its regular time starting this Friday.

Kind of surprised they're not going to a full hour this week with the big news of Belichick leaving. Maybe next Friday?

I'd guess local news on CBS stations is getting turfed Monday.

I wonder how KCCI handles it now that there's conflict.

That's true KCCI and WHO were the only 2 channels to air coverage of the Iowa Cacuses due to ABC affiliate airing Football on that night.

Primetime programming 3 hours of NCIS on KCCI were going to air overnight from 12:35am to 3:35am and WHO 13 was going to air Wheel of Fortune at 12:35am and America's Got Talent Fantasy League at 2am-4am.

Also with The NFL Today starting at 3:30, that means Let’s Make a Deal will be preempted by stations airing it at 3pm ET. They will probably put on a rerun for stations airing it in the morning if they air it at all.

And The Bold and the Beautiful and The Talk will be preempted out west.

Here in Phoenix, The Bold and The Beautiful will still air at 12:30, but The Talk will be preempted as they have the 1-1:30 MT before The NFL Today TBA. In terms of newscasts, not a big deal considering KPHO's afternoon newscasts are largely simulcasts of KTVK's from 4-6. They have the CBS Evening News scheduled for 6, but I'm assuming CBS5 will just simulcast Arizona's Family News at 6 from 3TV before their reg. scheduled 6:30 news before primetime NCIS reruns.

Right, because they are Mountain Time right now.

And actually CBS San Diego (KMFB) will be preempting Y&R as well because they air it at 1PT followed by The Talk at 2PT. I could see them airing B&B, Y&R and The Talk on 8.2.

KCCI 8 in Des Moines, Iowa will air KCCI 8 News Closeup at 2pm followed by NFL Today at 2:30pm.

The Iowa Caucus live News coverage will now only air from 7pm-10pm. Originally they were going to air live cover during the 5 & 6pm Newscasts and Live coverage starting at 6:30pm.

I have a feeling that WBZ in Boston is preempting Wheel and Jeopardy tomorrow night due to the rescheduled NFL football game airing on all CBS affiliates so it is very likely that both shows would air on WSBK or it may likely not air in the Boston market at all.

KPHO will fill the 1-1:30 MT slot before The NFL Today with InvestigateTV+.
