I would think that CBS, Fox, and NBC would know when the playoff games for next year will be scheduled far enough in advance (if not already) that the Golden Globes could be scheduled for another date where it wouldn't conflict.

I would think that CBS, Fox, and NBC would know when the playoff games for next year will be scheduled far enough in advance (if not already) that the Golden Globes could be scheduled for another date where it wouldn't conflict.
I remember several years ago when NBC carried the XFL on Saturday nights. One game went waaaaaay long. Meanwhile Saturday Night Live was also live that night and had to wait on 1) The game to end and 2) The local news to end. They weren't happy sitting around and had a major hissy fit.
well, last night was a rough night for North Texas, first Cowboys lost the game then bad weather hit the area with a few tornadoes touching down.
the cowboys part delay Fox prime time programing (this affected the entire Eastern and Central time zones), and the storms pretty much interrupted all network programing, but the worst part was, while all the NBC 5, WFAA Ch 8 and CBS 11 broke in during the commercial break until there was a tornado warning for Dallas and Tarrant counties, Fox 4 interrupted the Fox prime several times and they when that tornado warning hit, they never went back to Fox programming. so pretty much, last night's hour long Simpsons and The Mick did not air completely in the area and only smart parts were seen, while Family Guy was completely preempted in the DFW market all together and Fox 4 didn't re-air it either so those episodes are consider "lost" for the entire DFW market and will be airing in whole in the area when they re-air it when they have a week of weekend.
so pretty much, when severe weather strikes your area while it's TV prime time, do expect to watch your shows online or on demand to see them in whole because your local stations will cover the weather over airing the network's prime time programming

Until the early 2000's, WWE held their Royal Rumble pay-per-view on the same night as the Golden Globes (at one point, it was the Rumble, Globes, and AFC/NFC Championship games); now, it's the Rumble and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
I've seen NBC delay SNL for the NHL. However. it's during the time when there are repeats, so it isn't a big deal.
However, i remember one NASCAR race on NBC when there were *so* many crashes, and at one point, a red flag was displayed. I can bet you the SNL cast and the host(i think it was Reese Witherspoon) had a big hissy fit about that one too.

Ever since Heidi, has there been a incident where a sports event has been cut off or moved to cable to accommodate prime time? the closest i remember was a few years ago with a NASCAR race and America's Funnest Home Videos on ABC. The race was switched to ESPN2 if i remember correctly.
There have been plenty of races in the last few years that were suppose to be on NBC but due to rain delay got moved to NBC SN. 2015 Cup race in Phoenix as example
But why is it that the NFL won't allow the singleheader network to finish an overtime game, just because it's the other network's doubleheader turn?
yes, NBC had a lot of rain delays causing race postponements where the coverage moved to NBCSN. there's the 2015 Coke Zero 400 at Daytona debacle where NBC told NASCAR to schedule the race for Sunday night in primetime on July 5th day year so it wouldn't have to be on 4th of July. the race got a huge long rain delay so the start of the race was pushed into late night and they race all the way to 3 AM local time where the last lap saw Austin Dillon's #3 race car get into the catch-fence during the big one (which is what we in NASCAR call a multi-car wreck that has more the 4 cars involved) while Dale Earnhardt Jr. was taking the checker flag to win the race. the next year, they schedule the race for the first Saturday in July.
also NBC also saw the 2015 fall Phoniex race be ran on a Sunday night and move to NBCSN as you said, then you also had the 2016 fall races at Charlotte be postponed and moved to NBCSN in which the race was moved to a Sunday due to Hurricane Matthew hitting the Carolinas and the fall race at Texas Motor Speedway was delay from it's afternoon start on NBC to a evening start airing on NBCSN (and KXAS 5.2 in the DFW area) due to constant rains at that track which was made worse by problems with the track drying as the track had drainage problems and a surface hard to dry, even with NASCAR's trademark "Air Titan" track drying equipment. in fact the Texas race was called and cut short by more rain in the area and knowing the track was gonna be hard to dry and thus NASCAR was unable to resume the race. by the way, the Charlotte race was won by the guy who went on to win the 2016 NASCAR Cup Series championship was Jimmie Johnson who won his 7th career Cup Series championship which would tie a all time record of most championships won in NASCAR's Cup Series with "The King" Richard Petty and the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. meanwhile the Texas rained out race was the final career win of Carl Edwards who retired from the sport in a shocking fashion a week and 2 days ago.
Has the Emmys been delayed for the NFL? the closest was a few years ago with the Bills/Jets game on CBS, but I was thinking, if NBC had the Emmys and let's say there was a NASCAR race that was rain delayed? Would they move the race to NBCSN, or would they take the risk of the Emmys being delayed?
if NBC has the Emmys, i'm sure they would air as scheduled and the Race would move to NBCSN if the was was schedule to air on NBC instead of NBCSN. and i'm sure to prevent this from happening, NBC would have the race air on NBCSN on Emmy weekend unless it's a Saturday night race.
My FOX station, WHNS/21 could be in a no-win situation today- The Falcons who are our second team, are playing in the NFC championship game, but there could be severe weather in the area today. How bad would the storms be for them to preempt the game?

This would apply to the Grammys, but also Oscars, Super Bowl, etc but what would happen in the event of something like let's say the President getting shot or let's say air force one goes down with the president on board, or there were to be an incident similar to 9/11 during any one of those events?

All 4 news stations in Connecticut blew out all their programming on Thursday for coverage of the blizzard. All of them started coverage at 4AM and went til 6:30PM. (Tho I think FOX 61 stayed on until 6PM). It was stupid. The same crap all-day long. 12-18 inches predicted statewide. Talking to officials in different cites and towns. Showing road conditions all over the state. Reporters standing on the side of the road talking about the snow etc, etc, etc.
They really go overboard for blizzards in the northeast!
