They preempted that for this?

And then they can issue the warning, be done with it and get back to the show unless they have real evidence of how serious it is.

The show is just that, a show. An ephemeral, insignificant amusement. If you're looking at a situation that could develop into something life-threatening, you say "Screw the show, this matters." I swear, people who think their day, week or entire life will be ruined if they miss an episode of a sitcom, a quarter of a football game or -- heaven forbid -- a word puzzle being solved or a question being answered (Or should that be an answer being questioned?) on a game show need to acquire a sense of proportion. Dustin Hoffman's character in "Rain Man" couldn't miss an episode of "People's Court," and we all recognized that it was not normal behavior. But somehow a similar obsession with a TV program today ought to be accepted or even praised?

I don't mind seeing the show later (even if it's a Saturday rerun, which could be a year or so later), and in the case of "Jeopardy!" I've heard there's even a web site showing all the questions and answers.

WFAA is airing the Monday Night Football game tonight. Dale Hanson's Sports special airs at 6:30 PM tonight. Don't know what's going to happen with Dancing With the Stars and The Good Doctor Tonight.

In New York City, WPIX is carrying the Game. All American and Black Lighting are probably going to be airing at 7:00 PM tomorrow and Wednesday, but I could be wrong, though.

WFAA is bumping ET, DWTS, and TGD to 12:22, 12:52, and 2:53 AM, replacing a news repeat, a repeat of the same day's Inside Edition, two infomercials, an ET repeat, a World News Tonight repeat, and joining World News Now in progress only 8 minutes before it ends.

For WPIX, it's the same scheduling as last time. BL airs Tuesday night, AA airs Wednesday night, syndie blackish reruns move overnight, True Crime Files at 3:00 AM is pre-empted three days in a row until Thursday night/Friday morning.

So wait until it’s too late? Do you remotely understand how these things work? Storms move fast. The danger moves. People, believe it or not, tune in after hearing of a warning via their phone for example, precisely to get the information and understand the current danger.

Try, just for a moment, not to be self absorbed about what impacts you. There are other people in the world. Their safety matter more than your movie, game show or whatever.

You're advocating staying on the air all evening. In most situations people aren't going to tolerate this. And it leads to a situation like "the boy who cried wolf". I just said this was one storm that may or may not develop into something.

Can we just drop this because you and I won't agree?

Really? And what will they do? Storm the station with torches and pitchforks? Never watch the station again? Post obscenity-laced, misspelled rants on Facebook pages? No, no, and possibly but who cares. However this intolerance presents itself, it will have precisely the effect that your walking out of supermarkets that don't play soothing music does: None.

If a tornado warning/outbreak lasts all evening, you’re darned right they should stay on all evening. The trolls who don’t get it will kvetch. That says far more about them.

Missing a few minutes of a flipping game show? It pales in comparison. You can’t seriously suggest it doesn’t.

When CBS has the double header football games on Sundays the schedule primetime at half past the hour.

7:30PM 60 Minutes
8:30PM God Friended Me
9:30PM NCIS: Los Angeles
10:30PM Madam Secretary

Now when the games run CBS announces on Facebook and at the bottom of the screen what time the show will start. In the case of last week it was :41 past the hour. In the case of yesterday in was :37 past the hour.

Now a few idiots on Facebook were insisting that the programming was 41 minutes late, but it's only 11 minutes late. When the show is schedule for :30 past the hour instead at the top of the hour and it starts at :41 after the hour, that's 11 minutes late.

By the time it “develops into” something, however one might define something, it can be far too late. That’s the entire point. The warnings are issued because the conditions are observed—possible rotation in the case of tornadoes. It’s real, it’s happening. The warning is of the utmost importance. When the danger has passed, one would hope without significant damage or worse, then they won’t be reporting on it.

When my area’s most recent warning was over, they succinctly wrapped it up and went back to scheduled programming.

You can’t apply hindsight to something like this. It simply doesn’t hold.

What kind of pre-emptions did stations in Kentucky/Virginia/Mississippi do for Tuesday night's elections?

As I said on the previous page, WKYT Lexington aired coverage from 7-8 Eastern, pre-empting Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! and moving them to their CW sub. Not sure about other areas. I do know Lexington was the only market in the US where WOF was pre-empted on Tuesday.

Mel Robbins and Dr. Phil do not air at all on Thursdays.

The listings had not fully adjusted yet for this week. For yesterday, the TNF Pregame was strangely listed twice, at the previous 1:30 and also the proper 2:30, with Paid Programming in between. Then at 8:00, Family Feud was still listed instead of Wheel, which was not listed at all. The listings are correct starting Thursday of next week, however.

Networks next week will pre-empt regular programming for the Impeachment hearings.

NEW YORK (AP) — ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS will set aside scheduled programming next week to cover the House’s first open impeachment hearings on President Trump.

The cable news networks CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and CSPAN will also provide live coverage. The broadcast networks’ announcement Friday that they would televise the hearing, however, gives the event an extra measure of exposure and weight with the public.
