They preempted that for this?

While Jeopardy! gets to air 100% of its shows on time, and then later the station will brag about how it's their highest rated show, partially because they make it that way. They once posted an infographic on their Facebook page saying that J! on WPVI gets more viewers than Game of Thrones, while they didn't even mention Wheel.

It wouldn't be as annoying if their specials were an hour long and resulted in both shows getting the same treatment, but this constantly keeps happening to Wheel (which partners with WPVI on several occasions for Philly salutes) and never Jeopardy!

EP Harry Friedman was livid when he found out CBS's acquisition of TNF would mean Wheel and/or J! would get pre-empted on CBS stations, and when CBS asked him about doing a special promotional J! category or Wheel puzzle for TNF, he said, "I don't find the logic in supporting programming that pre-empts us", and yet Wheel keeps partnering with affiliates that pre-empt the show multiple times per year for local specials and events, yet rarely if ever pre-empt Jeopardy! Nashville aired <80% of last season's episodes, yet Wheel partnered with WKRN last season. Naturally, they gushed about the show and didn't pre-empt any episodes that week, then went back to the usual afterwards; they even pre-empted a rerun of the Nashville salute week.

Sounds like Mr. Friedman's beef is with the syndicator. Why hasn't he tried to find another for his simpleton's delight of a game show that only achieved its "iconic" status by feeding its viewers eye-candy Vanna day after day after day?

Wait, wait...an “infographic,” posted by a station in a market where you don’t reside happened to mention Jeopardy’s ratings and you have a grudge over that? That they didn’t include Wheel? That is some sort of affront? Maybe the stated fact applied to Jeopardy and not Wheel. It is possible.

Dear lord, my children when they were toddlers had less of a “Johnny got five more sprinkles in his ice cream than I did. It’s so unfair” attitude.

Harry has a lovely run, but assuming that story is accurate it shows a mindset rooted in old ways of thinking. Perhaps it’s for the best the shows bring in new producing blood on that end, and that Sony has a better understanding of the TV marketplace. Which includes stations working to balance myriad commitments and business priorities.

As mentioned, KABC will air Tonight's Monday Night Football game tonight. I don't know what's going to happen with Dancing with the Stars and The Good Doctor tonight.

In Kansas City, MO, KMBC is airing the game. They not airing a preshow before the game, instead airing Entertainment Tonight at 6:30 PM instead. Again, don't know what's going to happen with Dancing With the Stars and The Good Doctor.

KABC's coverage begins at 4:30, pre-empting local newscasts and the encore of World News Tonight. DWTS will air at 9:00 (probably pushed back if the game overruns). The Good Doctor will air at 1:07 AM, replacing the repeat of Tamron Hall.

KMBC is not airing tonight's episodes of DWTS or TGD at all. Of course, they can be watched On Demand the next day, as usual.

Now that's something I didn't know. tvtv.us, the site I used, didn't list the shows on the MeTV subchannel.

A lot of markets don't list shows that get bumped to subchannels and still show the regular shows instead. Nearly every time WTHR Indianapolis bumps Wheel of Fortune to MeTV, it's still listed as M*A*S*H. All of the ABC O&O's that bumped WOF to .2 Live Well Network last Wednesday did not list it either. I had to call WABC to confirm it would air on LWN, and the operations manager explained that they've been having issues getting to put it (along with the other shows they've been moving to LWN during the impeachment hearings) in the listings. My DVR has last Wednesday's WOF stored under some show called "More in Common".

Today WBBJ in Jackson, TN dropped the impeachment hearings at 11 AM CT and carried their regular schedule of Jeopardy and local news. They may have had to go back to the hearings at Noon, but it looks like they have decided not to let the hearings pre-empt local programming, and I won't be surprised if more stations do this if the hearings get ridiculously long.

KHQ/NBC Spokane is once again airing a Gonzaga University basketball game tonight from 6-8 Pacific, bumping two Jeopardy!'s and Wheel to tomorrow morning and afternoon from 11-12:30. This was also the case last Tuesday.

I had my DVR set to record every episode of Adam 12 on Cozi TV. It airs at Noon Eastern, but with this impeachment stuff on NBC WVIT dumps Days of our Lives to COZI TV at Noon even though the on-screen guide says Adam 12. So after getting "Days" 3 days last week instead of Adam 12, I canceled my DVR's set recording of Adam 12.

Is this happening on all stations that carry COZI, or just stations that are NBC owned and carry it?

Perhaps another option could be for CBS, NBC, and ABC to provide a feed for the hearings that could be carried on their affiliates subchannels and to stick to regular programming on the primary station. What won't surprise me will be for stations to shuffle the hearings off to a subchannel during local times if they go on for too long.

There's no business reason for providing a secondary feed. If the owner of the station also owns the sub channel network, sure. But in all cases, it isn't necessarily so easy, it won't necessarily be picked up in program guide data given the short-term nature of what's happening and when the interruptions do/don't occur, and people just aren't going to find it. So what would you be doing, sending out reruns? Otherwise you're proverbially p......ouring money away.

WBBJ in Jackson, TN dropped the hearings from ABC on 7.1 from 11 AM CT to noon for Jeopardy and local news again today. They carried them from 9 to 10 AM though when Kelly and Ryan would normally be on, but they probably didn't have a live show today because of the hearings. WBBJ also dropped the hearings from CBS on 7.3 from noon to 12:30 for local news. But as of now (2:15 CT) they're staying with the hearings instead of going to regular syndicated afternoon programming. I still think that this could be a start to local stations either dropping the hearings or putting them on a subchannel during times for local programming and I won't be surprised if it happens more often if these hearings continue to drag out and CBS, NBC, and ABC continue to carry full coverage on all 3 networks.
