Yesterday, all of the Hartford/New Haven Big Four pre-empted 2:00 programming with coverage of Isaias. The Talk on WFSB, General Hospital on WTNH (neighbor WABC delays it to 3:00), Kelly Clarkson on WVIT, and Daily Blast Live on WTIC were all affected.
The storm was over by the evening, but later that day, WTNH ABC 8 unexpectedly pre-empted Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune with a "Destination New England" special. J!/WOF still appeared on all TV listings, the website's schedule, and there was no mention of the special on the station's social media. Perhaps technical difficulties airing the prints on their end.

Last night, Youngstown stations WKBN CBS 27 and WYFX FOX 62 experienced technical difficulties and could not air at least their 7-8 PM hour programming (Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy! on WKBN, Big Bang Theory x 2 on WYFX). In place of them, they aired a simulcast of sister WYTV ABC 33's 7:00 newscast, followed by a repeat of the same station's 6:00 news at 7:30 (WYTV itself airs Entertainment Tonight in that slot). The whole time, including during commercials, they ran a crawl explaining the situation. There were no issues with the primetime network feeds at 8:00.
Or a late, late airtime buy?
WTNH said that it was indeed due to the storm. Their main broadcast hub lost power so they couldn't air syndicated programming, so they had to improvise by putting something else on the air from one of their other facilities.
Not a preemption per se, but the Cubs got dominated so bad, Fox switched to the Houston @ Arizona game.
Dominated by the Kansas City Royals, no less, a team with a roster so anonymous that the network announcers were straining to come up with anything to talk about as the game got out of hand. You could tell they had a ton of Cubs material to work with, but obviously felt little detail on the Royals would be needed -- after all, when ABC would show the Harlem Globetrotters, how much background did their announcers ever provide about the Washington Generals?
I switched to the Toronto-Columbus NHL game around the fifth inning of Cubs-Royals. When did the switch to Astros-Diamondbacks take place?
Fox better hope next week’s Cubs game is a close one, as there isn’t another game to switch to.
Middle of 6th inning IIRC. It was 8:27 CDT when they switched. Only the KC and Chicago markets stayed (as was announced on air)
Hmmm.. i've never seen Fox ever switch out a baseball game before because of blowout before.

It's a free app that let's you "clip" moments from various TV channels just after they air. You can look back on a show or event up to an hour after it finishes (e.g. Wheel of Fortune is available until 9:00 PM Eastern), and if you "clip" something (30 seconds max per clip), it stays up forever. For the Big Four, it defaults to the Philly stations, although it used to use the NYC stations. I believe other markets are sometimes substituted depending on your phone's location. I once had it display Boston's Big Four when I was in Hartford, CT. The best part is, no TV provider account is necessary.
I wonder if the switch would have been made if it was the Cubs who were doing the dominating rather than the Royals. Size of fan base would probably mean no.
CBS's broadcast of the PGA Championship Saturday ended on time without needing to overrun into 48 Hours' slot or continue on Golf Channel.
However, FOX's broadcast of PBC Boxing ran quite late. They hadn't even started the final match when FOX's time slot for the event had ended. Scheduled to end at 10:00 PM Eastern, FOX did not sign off until 11:08. WNYW, as usual, aired an hour of news, then Ultimate Tag aired in full, presumably with the subsequent programming delayed accordingly. WTXF in Philly only aired half an hour of news; a graduation special was scheduled for 10:30, but it was skipped over and Ultimate Tag aired starting around 11:45, then infomercials were JIP'd as soon as it ended. KDVR Denver scheduled Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune right after PBC at 8:00 and 8:30 Mountain (as they also do on MLB days), but they were both skipped; the rest of the schedule continued as normal and Ultimate Tag aired on schedule at 10:30 Mountain.

The Fox suits couldn't have been pleased with that. Boxing pay-per-views often run over when fighters decide to play mind games with their opponents and delay leaving their locker rooms, or when judges take forever to turn in their scorecards, or when celebrity interviews or pre-match introductions stretch on and on, but that shouldn't happen with a TV card, especially one for which no spectators are allowed. I wonder what happened last night. (And no, I wasn't watching -- had intended to but completely forgot about it. Now that other sports are around, it's going to be easier to forget the ones that sustained me during the dark days of May and June.)

stations with no news or decided to not do news went to Ultimate Tag after the end of boxing
According to my TiVo Charlotte's Fox 46 is scheduled to air "MasterChef" August 12 at 8 but I heard last night the station will air a special asking if we are ready to return to school.
Titan says WJZY is airing two specials in the 8:00 PM hour on 8/12: "Back to School" and "Black and Blue Kickoff Preview". The first of the two MasterChefs scheduled for that night (both repeats), is not being made up.
