They got video the same time everyone else didNot clear what you're getting at here. Why could the Mountain and Western time zones not get video?
Could have NBC said "if you do not drop the movies, you'll lose your affiliation"?NBC affiliate's policy irks sports fans, network

Notice that quite a bit recently when it comes to breaking news, CBS seems to leave coverage first before the others. The big 3 networks had aired a special report during the 7:30pm ET slot. CBS cut in at around 7:33 including WBZ in Boston during the first round of the Jeopardy Tournament Of Champions second semifinal game. ABC and NBC has also cut into regular scheduled programming with NBC cutting in at 7:30 and ABC at 7:39. While CBS's coverage ended at 7:50 (it was the only one of the big three to sign off before 8pm), both ABC and NBC did not sign off until 8pm so the 7:30pm slot on all NBC stations in the East Coast were entirely preempted.
Speaking of preemptions, WBZ in Boston will be airing an NFL preseason game as the New England Patriots will be among one of the teams playing in the preseason. Tomorrow's episode of Jeopardy will air on WSBK at its regular time replacing the second half hour of TBBT due to the main WBZ channel airing Patriots Game Day. Wheel Of Fortune will air at its regular time on the main WBZ channel.
No big deal since it was a rerun. The big 3 networks had aired a special report during the 7:30pm ET slot. CBS cut in at around 7:33 including WBZ in Boston during the first round of the Jeopardy Tournament Of Champions second semifinal game.
Trump getting indicted or Jeopardy? No big deal since it was a rerun.
For "Jeopardy" viewers, it's likely they saw it already.Trump getting indicted or Jeopardy?
Oops. I forgot that it is possible a preseason game in prime time could be on a network. So not technically a pre-emption.The NFL Panthers bump CBS programming in Raleigh. "Secret Renovation" is the only new episode this affects.
I still wonder if CBS's dropping KXLY Spokane for shuffling network shows around was a wake-up call to WKRG, as if to say "start clearing prime time in pattern or you're next." Somebody else mentioned WBRC's playing fast and loose with the ABC schedule; there were times when I lived in Birmingham (1969-73) when the only night every network show aired in pattern was Tuesday, ABC's strongest night ("Mod Squad," "Movie of the Week," "Marcus Welby, M.D.") It just made me wish I'd had Channel 11 in Atlanta for ABC; about the worst they would do would be one two-hour movie on Wednesday (delaying Johnny Cash to Saturday) and Atlanta Hawks games from 1970-72.Re: Most Inexplicable Network Program Pre-Emption
WKRG-TV in Mobile, AL was legendary for its network pre-emptions during the '70s.As an example, they delayed "All in the Family" during the 1971-72 season from its scheduled 7 pm CT Saturday airing to 9:30 pm CT on Tuesdays. WKRG's "shell game" with the CBS schedule got so bad that a columnist for the Mobile Register wrote an article about it, adding at the end, "You are missing much, Mobilians, you are missing much."The article used a lot of ink, comparing WKRG's clearance pattern with that of WTVY in Dothan, AL, which apparently was much more faithful to the CBS lineup.
Which is when WTMJ had "Thicke of the Night." WMAR Baltimore, then an NBC affiliate, also dropped Johnny, who ended up on then-independent WBFF Channel 45.Re: Detroit pre-emptions, again
That would be WVTV-18 that carried "Carson" after WTMJ-4 opted to pre-empt it thanks to NBC rejecting their request to delay it.
