They preempted that for this?

College football tomorrow (New Year's Eve) afternoon — 17 CBS markets impacted by the Sun Bowl, 14 ABC ones by the Citrus Bowl. Two CBS stations are moving Jeopardy! early:
KZTV Corpus Christi, TX — 9:00 AM CT
KIMT Rochester, MN/Mason City, IA — 9:30 AM CT

Not really a big deal because this happens alot
Friday and Saturday night the NCAA basketball game that is on FOX prime time in Minneapolis gets moved to Fox9+ WFTC (the former my network station….they carry My Network overnights) due to Fox 9 KMSP carrying the MN Gopher hockey games. Saturdays NCAA is in whole on Fox 9+ and carried on Fox 9 after the hockey game which starts at 5pm.

Many Nexstar stations are airing a Coast-to-Coast NYE's broadcast tonight. It's been going on for many years airing on KLAS (Las Vegas), but this it the first year, it's really been shown to much of the country. Notice on this list of stations airing it, NO ABC affiliates, they know how big a deal Dick Clark's/Ryan Seacrest Rockin' New Year's Eve is. Nexstar To Televise New Year’s Eve Special: “Coast-To-Coast Countdown To 2025” | Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
As much as I enjoyed Seth Meyers (well, it wasn't really that entertaining but it wasn't what they call music on the other stations) my guess is there was a better chance NBC affiliates showed something else.

The big four networks cut into their regular programming at the beginning of the 7pm ET hour to air a special report about the tragic attacks that took place in New Orleans.

NBC wiped out both early feeds of Nightly News (6:30 and 7 ET) for its SP. Nightly ran at the usual time on the Western feed. There may have been a special 7:30 ET feed for the East (6:30 Central) but it wasn't seen in my area.

At least on the CBS affiliate where I watch "Jeopardy" it was all over by 7:30, but the show never aired on the station I normally watch. The good news is in a couple of months that episode will be on in the afternoon. Maybe.

I wonder why Nextar's WGN Chicago did not air it. They just had regular programing.

what would they do if Fox was carrying a Gopher bball game at the same as they were carrying Gopher hockey? would they bump Bball to WFTC for Hockey?

It hasn’t happened yet. Not last year and this year no gopher basketball is on Fox. But the hockey games vary on Fox 9 and Fox 9+ depending on programming. I guess last year due to Friday Night Smackdown. But it moved to USA Network this year
Looking at hockey schedule the rest of the home games are on Fox 9. The previous home games this season were on Fox 9+. Fox 9+ has other hockey games too like St Cloud State, St Thomas (which is in St Paul) and a few North Dakota Hawks games.

I don't know if you really call this a pre-emption or not but on KDSM Fox 17 in Des Moines Iowa has been airing Paid Programming at 12:30am on Friday nights since about August 2024 until just 2 weeks ago.

Last week and last night it showed that Crime Expose with Nancy O'Dell was on at 12:30am showing that it was on Monday through Friday/Early Tuesday-Saturday Morning. But instead last Friday and last night it was another episode of iCrime with Elizabeth Vargas.

Looks like whoever was buying the Friday night graveyard slot wasn't getting enough response and pulled out, so the station put the junk programming it was running the rest of the week there. Probably just as many viewers as the infomercial, and around the same IQ.

ABC affiliates will be preempting 7:30pm ET airings of Wheel due to NFL coverage.
Also, there's a good chance PT and MT airings on Wednesday will be either JIP'd or preempted for coverage of Biden's farewell address.

Biden's farewell speech pre-empts 6:00 PM MT airings of #S-8103, of which there are only three. CBS is the only network that has it slotted for a full half hour. ABC has it scheduled for 20 minutes, and NBC and FOX for 15 minutes.

KKTV Colorado Springs (CBS) has WOF at 2:07 AM MT.
KGWN Cheyenne (CBS) doesn't have WOF scheduled at all.
KOTA Rapid City (ABC) doesn't have WOF moved, implying it will be joined in progress after the speech if ABC signs off before 6:30 MT.

No 6:30 airings of WOF are listed to be impacted, including on KRQE where normally they prioritize J! over WOF during the 6 PM hour (they have J! listed at 12:37 AM). Some non-CBS stations might prioritize J! or 6:00 news and run that for 30 minutes after the address and JIP WOF, however. (EDIT: None of them did; all 6:30 MT airings were intact)

in Minneapolis tonight's college bball game gets moved from FOX (9.1) to FOX+ (9.2) due to KMSP Fox 9 carrying the MN Gopher hockey game. Tomorrow nights game is on FOX9+ due to some more important programming (NFL :D)
