They sound much bigger than their market size?

Thought this might make a good poll question. What Texas broadcast stations nowadays sound like stations from much bigger markets? And why? Using voice track talent from a larger market isn't enough.
 
I'll get you started. I like KBEY in Burnet-Marble Falls. A good, clean, full-service, mainstream country music format.
They're putting a great product on the air in a market that used to rely on satellite-delivered formats.
 
KKUS The Ranch sounds WAYYYY bigger than East Texas!! It is a high quality well programmed station. The on-air talent starting at 9am is fantastic
 
IIRC, KJKB 95.5 Jacksboro had a pretty good live air staff when they were small-town, before they became cyndicated ESPN
 
KBEY's morning guy is Ed Chandler, Ed has worked Houston, San Diego and los Angeles, I went to school under Ed and Tony Maddox in San Diego.

I liked KJKB as "The Boss" better than the new KXPN "ESPN Radio".

Can't beat nice and uncompressed classic rock, which is what it was. :)
 
Beaumont station KTCX "Magic 102.5". It is the only urban station in the Golden Triangle and has a big city sound to it because it is dayparted. It's a throwback to what urban radio sounds like as a urban contemporary before the format was split in two (mainstream and adult) back in the 1990s.

I forgot to mention that KZQX 100.7/97.9 sounds bigger than most big markets, and plays a nostalgia/standards format that is without competition in broadcasting!

The station is a move in to Longview at 2.45 KW but sounds better than 100kw class C's in Dallas kudos to Chuck Conrad!
