If by "they" you mean the Spanish-speaking population, then I would like you to also leave this board, rather than continue making thinly-veiled racist posts.
______________

Who's racist? Is it them when i apply for a job and they say i don't speak spanish i can't work there?
Bustos is buying up many radio stations i grew up listening to. Now they are doing it here in Oregon. The main reason i had to leave is my family wanted me to have stable life with housing and part time employment. I havn't been there since 1990.
But i visit by internet and dxtuners.
Evenutally there won't be an English language station left in LA and soon the rest of the country.
Look at the ba.broadcast board. They complain about it all the time.

And yes, i do list streaming Spanish radio:

Rather than call you clueless, I'd like to assume that you just have not thought htis through.

Hispanics are only 13% of the population. In the places where Hispanics have been in the population a long time, like New Mexico, less than 20% of Hispanics are Spanish dominant.

Take Albuquerque... 40% Hispanic, but only about 7 shares go to Spanish stations because 80% of Hispanics are English dominant.

In LA, 42% Hispanic, there are 26 Spanish shares, and 45% of Hispanics are English dominant and don't use Spanish radio regularly. The newest 100% Hispanic targeted station in LA is in English! In the last year, 5 FMs and one AM have switched out of Spanish, not into it. (The two 93.5 signals, the two 103.1 signals and 96.3 plus the loss of 1580 to brokered programming)

In San Antonio, 52% Hispanic... less than 15 Spanish shares becaue 75% of Hispanics are English dominant.

As Hispanics become more and more second and third generation, the use of Spanish declines.

There is no way any market will have even half Spanish stations. Not now, not in the future.

1580 is currently Spanish now, though (it's a religious outfit):

David, a correction:

The 103.1s switched from Spanish ("Super Estrella") to English ("KDL") more than a year ago ... more like three ...
______________

OK, I'm sorta kidding about that, but you should seriously talk to someone.

Yeah, that is true. If I had said, "in the past few years" we could have included 1540 as switching out, 830 switching in (for second time) and 96.3 switching in and then out. At one point, there were 21 or 22 Spanish signals, and I think the count is 17 today.

830, 1020, 1330, 1220, 1390 and 930 AM
97.9, 96.7, 98.3, 103.9, 101.9, 107.1, 107.5, 97.5 (rimshot)94.3, 94.3 and 105.5.

Formerly in Spanish: 900, 96.3, 1430, 1540, 103.1, 103.1, 93.5, 93.5, 1580, 1510, 1480.

Is it all Spanish? I have heard Asian languages there pretty recently, but it is not a good signal and hard for me to hear most of the time.

What David correctly points out is not every person of Hispanic origin listens to Spanish language radio. Basically, nearly 75% of all the L.A. listening is still in English. Spanish-language radio stations - as David pointed out in another thread about KYSR - also don't power ratio near English stations - and many of the Hispanic's are English dominant. Basically, his post was borderline racist IMHO...

No, the original... I didn't see the reason for the post in the first place.

Yes, someone agrees with you... it was a waste of time and space.

Re: Think this through again with the facts.

I gotta say I'm with you on this one guys.

It's not even borderline. It's the shameful racially ignorant dominant culture not even knowing that it's racist.

Makes me embarrassed.

"We" aren't all so ignorant.
