Things are changing in the 2006 autos

I just traded in my 2004 Ford for a 2006 and I could not believe there is no Cassette player available. You have a variety of CD players and a AM/FM Stereo radio. The salesman told me Ford fazed out the Cassette players this year. That is unbelievable, like vinyl, the Cassette is becoming a thing of the past. I do not know if the other makes of vehicles are doing the same. Also, the antenna is now in the windshield, this amounts to poor reception on both AM and FM, my 2004 Ford had great reception on AM and FM with the outside rod antenna, now, the same stations are weaker and fade faster. I thought this horrible invention was tried years back and flopped. More and more they are making Satellite radio in the car more interesting.

You can humor Me and see if you Hear WEMG clearly. and If the Stereo light lights up...
I would Like to Know if the new 2006 Fords are like the 2004/2005's
that came with AM stereo radios.
who Says C-Quam is dead?

Some manufacturers still include a cassette player and CD player as standard equipment ...Honda/Acura for one (Two?)

Toyota still puts out the cassette player, which is optional and in their higher grade versions, but the CD is standard. I find that the AM reception as far as long distance/sensitivity is still good and exceptional, but it's Toyota, not Ford.
What you are describing has been going on in the decline of AM and FM quality components for the last several years. It started in audio components in many of the good quality stereo receivers like Denon, and Yamaha.
I own a 2400 dollar surround receiver at the time it came out, and still the AM/FM quality as far as sensitivity is the god awful pits. Filtering, overloading with a power antenna, don't even bother. It's part of cutting corners and putting more quality into other important features.
The point is manufacturers are putting less and less, cutting corners into radios due to the declining demand of AM/FM, and the growing demand of CD, IPODS, MP3's, satellite. You should know by now the "sign of the times".
The audio or sonic quality of the receivers in autos is up more then ever....but the reception of the radio bands....no one cares.

No luck with the 2006 Ford, the AM is MONO, but in my 2004, it was Stereo, remember when I used to tell you the other channel was missing. Reception wise, WTTM is still OK with the new windshield antenna, both day and night, but driving around higher buildings, it fades in and out, whereas, when I had the outside rod antenna, it was crystal clear, and that goes for the Center City area also. Plus, driving farther from the antenna site, it seems to fade, going out past Delaware County. IMHO, the windshield unit cuts the listening ability about 20% on AM and 30% on FM. BTW, please tell whomever is playing those cuts, today they played one of my all time favorites, Baby Please Dont Go by Them. This was the flip side of Gloria, which did chart in March of 1965, but with the oldies stations in Philly you would never know it. I have not heard that song in ages, and never on a radio station. Can I say "OH WOW", can you guys play it again, give me the time and day, thanks...

LOL well
As T.E.D. states it..
" I'm Radio TED ,and I never know what I'm going to play Next"
Thats the truth.
I loaded the T.E.D.(Timeless Entertainment Device) up with Aprox
1 weeks worth of Music to start.( Thats over 120 hours of material. Plus Several 30 min music shows, and the T.E.D. Plays it as he wishes.
Been Adding more music slowly. Even I hear stuff that I forgot was in the library. However If you were to call my Cell# when Im at the site.
I could see to it that He plays it again.
Its a great mix of Music.. We try to play stuff that you rarely Hear on the radio. from Todays music For the younger listeners to Swing for the older
listeners.and Everything between. I Think the only stuff I didnt add is like Old Dr demento stuff like Fish-heads. I have tons of stuff On Carts...
But dont have a Cart Player to transfer them to MP3's
I would love to play some old Radio shows like W.C fields,The Shadow, the lone
Ranger, that stuff at night... I have most of that stuff on reel to reel.
I dont want to get To crazy with it. Just thoughts Running through my head.
BTW My # can be found on my website. You just have to look for it.
Radio today is not like it used to be. But Radio TED is Just that OLD time Radio.

My 1997 Ford Explorer has stereo AM. My wife's 2000 Ford Explorer does not.

I got an old Chrysler Stereo AM Cassette w/EQ (They hung on to AM stereo for quite a while too). Cheapest way to sample the technology (4 bucks at a flea market). I once set it up on my passenger seat with a set of headphones to sample one of the the only Stereo AM's left in my area (Oldies WWBF Bartow, FL, a 2500 watter about an hour away from me).

As for reception and SQ, a 70's era Delco or Philco will blow the doors off today's car receivers for the AM band.

My 1974 Olds Omega had an antenna in the windshield.

I wish all car manufacturers would include an "aux in" plug so we hipsters can plug in our ipods with minimum hassle.

Is that really too much for a girl to ask for?
