Here's the thing...they are becoming sort of Y100 with AC DC, Ozzie and Van Halen...and that's where WMMR is still inconsistent in my mind. Blink 182 on WMMR? Are you kidding me? You know how many guys working on roofs in Ne Philly fell off trying to get to their radio yesterday morning? So which is it? Modern rock? Classic rock? Hybrid? I think the same people that tuned in for this latest book are going to tune out once the curiosity factor wears off.

I think any rock fan is turning to WMMR by default. After Stern I get mad at myself if I end up on WYSP. I will purposly change my dial position (um, my radio has a digital screen, do I still say "dial position"?) before I get out of the car so I don't have to hear WYSP when I get back in the car.

I never, ever, ever listen to WMGK. I, like I think so many other Y100 listeners, have moved on to other entertainment options in the car...I've called my mother a bunch of times while driving, listened to 660 WFAN, listen to my Pearl Jam bootlegs, and found this new thing that I never considered before: silence.

By the way, where the hell is Ragnadork?

The thing that really bothers me about WYSP is their DJ's are so stiff, line card readers for ads and then its right back to the music, at least with WMMR they DJ's with personality, (minus Jacson, yes he has personality just not my flavor). Why does infinity think Tim Sabean (YSP's PD) is some kind of programming genius?

I dunno

I tried MMR today and just cannot digest them. Tried them from 4PM to 5PM and heard nothing new, same stuff, Doors, GnR, Bon Jovi, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mellencamp, Floyd, U2, Zep, Tom Petty, come on now is this a Classic Rock station or what, I was waiting to hear the Grateful Dead next, if Pierre was on I probably would. I tuned back to YSP and heard new Stones, new Roach, new 3 Doors Down, new Priest, new Crue' plus 90's and early 00's Rock, is MMR Classic Rock or what, why not just simulcast with MGK. YSP has them music wise hands down, I am just upset I am going to be bombarded soon with Eagles this and Eagles that. If Infinity is still flipping all their oldies outlets, they could put YSP's format on WOGL thus freeing up YSP for talk, sports and whatever and OGL could be music intense 24/7.

I just don't see all of Y100 listeners going to MMR. Even if P&S and Matt are the "familar voices" that several former Y people go to, the music is a huge turn off. I'm interested to see how the summer book looks. I believe this should tell us if the Y listeners are (more importantly) STAYING with MMR.

P.S. Of course I've turned to other forms of entertainment since the death of Y100(i.e. XM47 - Ethel).

Whether you like them or not, Tommy Conwell, Couzin Ed and Matt & Huggie are not just liner card readers. It's so funny how everyone hates YSP on this board and just roots for MMR. Despite all the upheaval of the past few years, O&A and Don and Mike, David Letterman etc... WYSP has still maintained itself, that's pretty impressive. I dont like everything about YSP, but they're a good, energetic rock station. They're not the "Pierre" station. If mellow laid back guys are what you want when you hear Metallica and Godsmack, then listen to MMR. I prefer a more in-your-face approach especially with the harder music.

You should try listening during the Preston and Steve show then. They play a lot of stuff that was played on Y100. I only heard one Van Halen song and that was weeks ago. They are not staying with the old MMR playlist during those hours. I guess they are trying to appease anyone who followed P&S to the new station.

Woah Dwight! May I call you Dwight? Do a little reading...go back a couple of pages and look at the all out rip fest this board, myself included, has conducted on WMMR.

If this board is nothing else, it certainly is a nondiscriminatory trasher of everything related to Philadelphia broadcast.

I don't listen often, but I do listen by default as well. YSP is too heavy for my taste. I don't like the oldies on MMR (well - except for the time I heard The Cure on the MMRchives) but they do occasionally play more "alt" music like Oasis or Coldplay, which YSP wouldn't touch. Sadly most of the bands I like don't get any airplay in Philly anymore. If a station were to flip to alt tomorrow, MMR would lose a huge chunk of their new audience, after P&S espcially.

You think YSP should be lauded for "maintaining itself"? With the monster numbers Howard brings them in the morning, they should be embarrassed that they can't maintain those numbers through the day. MMR beat them in their target demos midday and PM drive. It just shows how pitiful YSP is that most of their listeners change the station when Howard signs off. How bad will their ratings be when there is NO Howard?
