things B98.5 FM doesn't do a good enough job of promoting ...

I don't know about the above unemployment questions. You see in the B98.5 world, things are only upbeat and positive, no room for negativism here! But I do know this, B98.5 FM just got finished playing Joan Jett and The Blackhearts "I Love Rock N' Roll". Me too! I luv rock n' roll ... and a Big 80s weekend, on B98.5 FM!

With the thermometer at a big 98 B-grees this weekend...

jabba17 silly person, you know there's no current temperature to announce during a Big 80s Weekend on B98.5 FM.

edit: yeah "this weekend" makes it generic enough. my bad.

Geez! By the looks of things, as an outsider, you'd think B98.5 is the worst station in Atlanta!

Well I heard "I love rock n roll" this morning on KPKX 98.7, too. They also play Lady Gaga, Simple Minds, Black Eyed Peas, The Cure, UB40, Goo Goo Dolls, Ace of Base, Deep Blue Something, & Alicia Keys...etc. Not sure if this is what B98.5 is supposed to resemble for Atlanta, but here you go http://www.yes.com/#KPKX?chart you can check for yourself. I think this is more what Atlanta's B98.5 is supposed to resemble though.. http://www.yes.com/#KESZ?chart

Wow... ok B98.5 is definitely not supposed to resemble the first one I mentioned- KPKX. I just noticed something, and... "single ladies (put a ring on it)" I would not say is soft rock. Not sure about "don't stop the music" though. I wonder what KPKX is classified as? It's some type of AC I know that. I need to learn my AC's..

It's a station that shovels out music the way a stable boy clears out the place where the horses live. It measures its output in quantity, not in quality.

"I love rock n roll" is on KPKX once again, right now as I type! I was making my way over to KZON and stumbled across it! Now I bet I'm going to be hearing that all the time because of this thread (Well, not today though, since they never repeat songs in a day on KPKX!!!)

Anyway, on to KZON JamZ now.. 12:20 party mix is about to start... maybe some Clinton Sparks, Cascada, or David Guetta..etc. might come on. I'm thinking... maybe WBTS should do something at 12 o clock, too!!!

The AC station here in Jackson plays the same thing that KPKX does.

Oh yeah, what was I thinking! It's supposed to be like K-Love--positive and encouraging.

But on second thought, there's a good side to unemployment. You get to spend more time listening to B98.5!

(For the record, I'm not unemployed. That's positive!)

It's more like K-Y.

That could be a really popular new contest: "B98.5 FM doubles your unemployment check".

Just for kicks, according to yes.com, B98.5 has added "Hey Soul Sister" by Train and "Need You Now" from Lady Antebellum in their 50 minute music hours today in their attempts to try and stay "current." I'm still waiting on Daughtry's latest song though.

I missed that! Looks like the B98.5 FM 50 minute music hours will be very fresh in the days and weeks and months ahead!

I heard "Need You Now" this morning. That's only about 6 months old.

That song is starting to become a recurrent, but still, I would not think about seeing that song on that station because it doesn't fit with the playlist on B98.5 until now. It's one of the station's attempts to try and become "current." Unfortunately, they will easily make a good song sound atrocious by playing the song more than 5 or 7 times a day like they always do. I used to be a big Daughtry fan, but thanks to B98.5, I just avoided listening to the band altogether. As long as they don't play a single song from my favorite country artist, Rascal Flatts, I guess they can do whatever they want to.

"Hey, Soul Sister" by Train is also currently #1 on the AC chart.

They should be ashamed. That's just too new!

Seriously...the strangest AC station ever. Weird music mix too. They seriously need to start playing "Life After You" though to keep up with Daughtry.

I am listening to Mara Davis right now, with her in-studio guest Alton Brown. They just played a song by The Tubes called "Sushi Girl". Even though the song was recorded almost 30 years ago, it was the first time I ever heard that song. To my ears (and the ears of everyone hearing that song for the first time), it was a new song.
