Things get stranger at WICC

I tuned in to WICC just scanning around and what do I hear at the top of the 9:00 hour--USA Radio Network News. It's their 5-minute newscast, followed by a brief news/weather cast (one minute total), and then Clark Howard. For years and years WICC was an AP Radio station.

What would make Tim Quinn or Curt Hansen do such a move? I will not speculate.

For the record, I prefer USA Radio Network to CBS, ABC, CNN, even Fox News Radio, whose sister cable TV outlet seems to be heading in a leftward direction.

I bet you it's simply a cost factor. I think USA will do 100% barter depending on the market. A friend of mine who has a station out of state has USA on their FM. I bet if it's not totally free it's probably discounted for letting them have their nation spots air.
