Things move slower in East Texas. So does the FCC.

Okay, we recently heard about the FCC beating a dead horse by slapping KZEY 690 in Tyler with a hefty fine, which is meaningless since the station essentially no longer exists. That's after the station had apparently been operating without a current license, just like the co-owned and eventually deleted KOFY 1060 up in Gilmer. It sure took the FCC long enough to shut that one down, and how long since KZEY should have been declared legally dead? About two years.

And how long has that unlicensed translator, or whatever it is, been operating on 94.3 in the Tyler area? About two years. It was talked about here in the summer of 2005, and last I heard it was still on.

Finally, remember when Waller Broadcasting signed on with "The Breeze"? Two years ago. And a few days ago I heard them ID'ing as KLJT Jacksonville-Tyler/KFRO Gilmer-Longview. That's an illegal ID, since KFRO is the AM station on 1370 in Longview, owned by Access1 and simulcasting KKUS ("The Ranch") from Tyler. The FM station on 95.3 is legally KFRO-FM. And how long has "The Breeze" been airing that illegal ID? Two years! And yes, we talked about it here, two years ago.

Know what you're saying there. Obviously, the Dallas field office either is totally and completely unaware or they feel they have much larger fish to fry elsewhere.

And yes, the whatever-it-is on 94.3 is still on the air and "The Breeze" is still illegally IDing 85.3.

I know it's TV, but they also need to look into the company that owns and operates FOUR TV stations in that market... NBC, FOX, CW, and MY NETWORK. Given the market size and amount of stations in the market, they shouldn't even be owning and operating two! I guess someone needs to go to Dallas and wake them up and let them know what's going on in that market, is not kosher!
