Things that freaked you out on tv as a kid

O.K. kids, AuntPresident brought up a good topic, what on tv freaked you out as a kid. Auntpresident mentioned the Screen Gems "S" from you know where, how about the NBC "Snake" logo at the end of an NBC show, or as I previously mentioned, "PLEASE STAND BY" announcements, or how about when cable went out. That hissing sound drove me nuts! Probably the thing the scared me most was when tv stations went off the air. As a kid when tv went off, i would frantically flip the channels looking for a picture. With all the earlier talk of CONELRAD and EBS, I guess I thought when a station went dark I thought maybe somebody had hit the transmitter, and they weren't coming back on. Same thing with thunderstorms when lightning hit the transmitter towers, scared the s@@t out of me as a kid

Things like that didn't bother me, but what really scared me was a show on NBC back in about 1958 or around there called Great Ghost tails. I remember one called Room 13. It was about a guy from the 13th century who was in room 13 in this hotel that didn't have a room 13 whose head was in room 12 and he was trying to get it back. I didn't sleep that night.
