Things to Ponder

How long can phoenix support more than a handful of rock stations, talk about over saturation

How long before Austin Hill has his own show on KTAR, he does fill in alot across the country too

Will Tim and Willy be Peaking at 98-7 come the spring, rrrr any day?

Will the Coyote continue to howl in the valley or will another animal take its place.... FYI 95-5

Will KISS pick up Seacrest in pm drive since John Jay and Rich are goo goo ga ga over this overexposed guy?

Will Power and Edge stay put as they are today or will Riveria look to "consolidate" and make one an online station only?

Fun things to ponder.

Hill will likely be offered a fulltime show at KTAR after the spring book, and asuming he took the gig he'd be on the air before fall (probably afternoons)

Tim n Willy.....will not pop up at 98-7 Peak or anywhere else in market. not anytime soon (don't ask me to explain why).

Ryan Seacrest...good chance he'll make it to afternoons at KissFM. Since Snake left, their arent any real "personalities" on Kiss beyond Jon Jay and Rich. Seacrest on hard drive would be a very economical choice.

95-5 Coyote wont be goin' anywhere soon. they make waayy too much money, with waaayy too little cost (when your programming is all on a computer, why mess with it?).

Phoenix rock stations - - KDKB will survive, others are up for grabs.

Any other questions?

KUPD (why would they be changing formats?) and KSLX will remain intact. KDKB, while they still make Sandusky money, is their weak link. They need to drop (canned) Nights with Alice Cooper (no offense to Mr. Furnier and his past accomplishments, he just isn't that good of a radio talent) - giving them more inventory to themselves - and broaden their playlist OR move toward an AAA direction. If not KDKB, 95.1 needs to give AAA a try (that's if they have enough $$$ to hire the proper talent - where's the Bone Mama these days?). It also seems like they spend the least amount of money on technical upgrades for KDKB among all the Sandusky FM's. KEDJ needs the financial resources (see Riviera Las Vegas's woes) to see if they can move their transmitter to Usury Mountain, even if they're short-spaced due to KLNZ and KAJM. Their QC location just isn't high enough to get over all the multipath from the peaks. Power, as well as 95.1 and 97.5, need on-channel boosters on the White Tanks pointed with a narrow directional lobe to the southeast, despite what some engineers think of them.

Speaking of 95.1, I read somewhere that their only sister station (WRMF in W. Palm Beach, FL) is in the process of being sold or up for sale. It makes me wonder if KVIB is on the block as well. If so, the question is will they be able to recoup on their $18m purchase of the station in 2004?

On the subject of KDKB and Alice Cooper--

I honestly think Alice Cooper is KDKB's biggest asset. I disagree with the notion of dropping him. He brings some sort of entertainment back to KDKB airwaves, which is great. Given, his show is nationally syndicated, many people may not know that as well as they know he's a Valley resident. I think that's yet another plus for KDKB having Alice on.

I do agree with you that they should broaden their playlist. It can use some minor tweaking, as long as KSLX does some minor tweaking as well. In other words, stay off of each other's playlist turf a little bit. ;D

Agreed Ms. Lauren. Alice Cooper is a natural entertainer in many arenas, and is one of the best rock jocks in the country. He's brilliant, is a natural wit and has lived the music. His delivery is real. Nothing worse than someone faking it, and the Gumpdusky Rock Monopoly has more than it's share of those.

I cringed when I heard Pete Cummings on KSLX discussing what he thought was a funny bit about bestiality the other day. Who does he think his audience is, half-wit boys?

My sources at the towers tell me that Tim and Willy have a BIG MONEY deal cooking that will make their former gig pale by comparison.

Larrykogu is right. KYOT is CC's dream station. Low overhead, high billing, and run by Voice Tracking and computer. (The most immaculate control room you've ever seen- no human ash!) It ain't goin nowhere.

Ever think Lumberyard 1440 might be gearing up to take a bigger slice of the oldies pie from the mighty KOOL with the onset of PPM?

Many intriguing things discussed under the full moon on South Mountain this week...

But one of these days KFWhyEye needs to move to FM and 95~Five is the most likely candidate. Nurse Jeff and I can just hear the uncola VO guy now...KFWhyOtee

PMS maybe, but PPM aint gonna save AM... let alone a station with 52 watts after dark!
