Peter would do that; I remember a contestant calling on "Celeste Holmes,"
and he gently corrected her; the actress's name is Celeste Holm.

Three-way confusion, if you add Anne Francis (with or without the ocelot).
 
I remember seeing a promo for "The Road Runner Show" when ABC had it on its 1971-72 Saturday Morning lineup and hearing the voice of Casey Kasem on it. That promo aired before the closing credits of RR's lead-in "Will The Real Jerry Lewis Please Sit Down". I also swear I heard Kasem voice a promo for The Funky Phantom and The Jackson 5ive, which were also on the alphabet net's sked. I'm pretty sure he did some promos for networks other than NBC.
 
OK, I'll steer the thread in a slightly different direction..... ;)

How about the old EBS tests? You know, the ones that had the image of the EBS slide and the high-pitched tone, followed by the stock verbiage: "....if this had been an actual emergency..."

A couple of other tidbits:

The "in COLOR" slides before shows with a shortened, instrumental version of the theme. The Brady Bunch had one of these, as did hundreds of other shows in the 60s and early 70s. Rarely, if ever, seen.

While we're at it: the original NBC Peacock! There are some clips with the "...in living color on NBC!" flourish; my favorite there on You Tube is one that is followed by the Banana Splits! Seeing and hearing the old peacock is truly nostalgic for some of us of a certain age.....

NBC revives that original "in living color" peacock intro from time to time, and lately has been announcing before their sitcoms "30 Rock is coming up next, in living color."
 
I'd love to see these again:

Long John Silvers ad, late 1980's. A condescending young man tells us how his family always goes to Grandma's house for Christmas dinner every year, then Grandma says "they never leave" before announcing that she's going to LJS this year. The guy says "you wouldn't really do that would you Grandma?" Then Grandma grins and says "Watch me".

AT&T: African-American couple in their 50's or 60's - the wife is in tears because their son Raymond called for no other reason than to say "I love you Mom".

Drunk driving PSA: starts off with kid saying "Daddy's home". Then the wife adds "that's not Jim's car". And the one with the two glasses smashing into each other.
 
Hamburgers was a comedy-variety special that was shown on NBC sometime during the first half of 1974. All I recall from that was what Corky mentioned about the animated bumper that jumbled the letters in its title to read "Bugmasherr".

Shortly after the 1984 breakup of Ma Bell, I recall a similar ad from a now-supposedly-defunct long distance company, Network One, in which an elderly woman called "Ma Bell" was crying over the new competition, notably Network One's low rates.
 
On the subject of commercials....

*Netzero telling people why they really should give up their high-speed internet access and "come back" to dial-up. I myself saw this ad not too long ago, perhaps I was the only one since I have yet to find anyone else who had seen this ad. My cousin says for Netzero to have run such an ad would be like some record company "begging" the public to give up their Ipods and downloading in hoping they would go back to 45rpm singles. ::)

*The 7-UP vs. Dr. Pepper & Mountain Dew ads from the early 80s. In one ad I can remember Pete Rose slamming Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew for having way too much caffeine and how parents should not allow their kids to drink those brands..instead they should drink 7-UP. Now many people remember those "Never Had It..Never Will...7up" ads, but they dont remember this ad even though I do remember seeing it.

Considering that 7-UP and Dr. Pepper is now one company and in some places they bottle Mountain Dew even though its still a Pepsi product, I would imagine if anyone would upload this on You Tube, 7-Up/Dr. Pepper would have it yanked faster than one says "..I'm a Pepper!!".

I gotta think that Netzero ad was an SNL or similar bit. The only angle would be price..suppose for folks who only check email and do basic surfing.

Sometimes the woman's face at the very beginning or very end of the reel of film accidentally making it across the air.
 
The station ID "stills" or cards on the hour....or in fact ANY station ID on the hour nowadays.

Often businesses would advertise on those same station ID cards.

In Phoenix, the local stations would use Arizona Highways-style photos in their station IDs.

When that ad played on the radio in the early-1980s, I could not figure out what that ad said. Even when an announcer read that line as a billboard on "Rick Dees' Weekly Top 40", I still couldn't figure it out.
