Since streaming RTV is disapearing and i have no local way to get the network im thinking of getting a satellite system to receive the AMC9 sat which i have heard RTV uses and is free! Also it will be interesting to see what else i can get. Here is a link to some satellite bundles im looking at.leaning toword the SatHawk PVR 800 because of its HDTV features.I have seen online that others have had good luck getting RTV this way.Any opinions on this subject would be a big help. Not knowing where you live, I can't be more specific.

RTV is available OTA through the x.2's.
Check with your local stations.

Here in Tampa, it is available over 8.2.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

From what I have seen of these free satellite systems, you may get RTV, America One, Televangelists and several infomercial channels. You had better be fluent in Spanish or Arabic for everything else.

I have one. It's great for watching live news feeds, occasional sports feeds, some even in HD. As far as 24/7 programming choices, there are only a few. RTV is one of them. There are some other english channels but to expect more than a dozen or so with 'desireable for all' programming could be met with some disappointment. ;)

If you are considering such a setup, google Satellite Guys and research from there. You'll find a lot of people eager to help in your efforts.

Im located in CT and the station 8.2 where you live had live internet streaming of RTV untill a few weeks ago when they decided to stop the streaming.

This seems like way too much effort and cost just to get RTV. You would be better off getting a monthly Netflix subscription and getting all the old time shows on DVD. Then at least you have more selection and can choose what you want to watch. If RTV ever went out of business or was no longer available over satellite you would be stuck with all that equipment.

I actually get two feeds of RTV - 11.2 from WPXI, Pittsburgh and 9.2 from WTOV, Steubenville, OH.
If not available OTA to you now it may be soon.

The whole set up of a dish, receiver HD,motor, cable etc is less than $400.If RTV dosnt pan out at least i can have some fun seeing what i can get.

Funny you should say that... An RTV affiliate owner has posted on these boards in the past and said that the network is a bit too cheap to fix certain technical problems. Is it bad enough that they could go bankrupt down the road?
