C',mon people, The ratings came out yesterday and no one has posted anything!

- Y 100 beat KJ for a change.
- K-Rock is doing horrible.
- KRPT is not even listed on the ratings again.

No one has anything to say?

I was out of town over the weekend into monday, I still dont see how KBBT is still number one when they dont realy add anything new just the same playlists. 96.1 made a big jump, kind of a surprise, 106.7 still hits the tank as well as digital 104 & KSRX, big up to KTFM though with another raise, they seem to be doing something right, more than likely taking listeners away from kono now. <P ID="signature">______________

Looks like Mix96.1 took a major leap up this spring, which is good. SA needs a good mainstream pop station. Lets just hope that KHFI in Austin doesnt drop like a rock with Mix's old PD.

How about Austin? KLBJ-FM and 101X both jumped big time. In myopinion, KLBJ sounds MUCH better these days, with a good mix of 80s-90s classic rock (including Nirvana and Alice in Chains). Also, it looks like Channel 1023 is not convincing anyone that they play 'world class rock'. Any rumors of a format flip? Its just a matter of time I would assume. Hurban perhaps?

No surprise Y beat KJ. Y100 knows what the listener wants. That is the same songs over and over again. Little variety as possible. Y tests each and every song they play, to make sure thats what the listener wants to hear. There is not a bad song on Y100. KJ on the other hand doesnt test their music but shoves it into the listeners ears and hoping they will like it.
As far as CHR goes...
Dissapointed that MIX went up, I was hoping that station would fall off the face of the earth! Sickens me everytime I listen to that station vt'ed out of town jocks, teasing, and decieving their listeners. Oh well thats CC for ya!
Z1067- Lovin it even more, sure they play the same songs over and over again, but it beats listening to mix!

Wow, you're saying it's better for a station to play the same songs over and over again rather than a variety with newer and more unknown music??? I couldn't disagree more and I think all the people who have invested in satellite radio can agree with me. The biggest complaint in the CHR format is the lack of variety and in country I see no difference.

Clear Channel might consider that, given the increased numbers at Houston's KLOL since the flip to Hurban/Reggaeton last November. Mega 102 for Austin? As I noted a few months ago, it would sort of be full circle for the 102.3 frequency, which started out as Spanish language KMXX in 1976.

Please no.....I was in Houston recently flipping through the dial and several of the stations I used to love are playing Spanish language music and I can't stand any of it. I know that its an up and coming format and more power to those making a go out of it, but can we keep a few English language stations in Austin....please?

I hope he's being sarcastic. KJ is one of the best country stations anywhere. They may even surpass KVET. The problem is the two stations here have sounded the same for so long people still don't realize which one they are listening to. Y-100 has the catchier slogan and better branding than KJ which seems to leave diary writers with the impression that was the station they were hearing all day. What KJ faces in the book battles is image. KJ needs a more memorable image.

As for Mix, it's surprising they are in the same building with KJ. Everything about the station blows. The real kicker is Z106.7 seems to want to be just like Mix. They try to sound like Mix rather than carve out their own identity. Sad. Very sad.

In the future I think La Kalle is a good move for Univision. KSRX is done for. KRPT just needs promotion of any kind. A billboard or a remote or something. Magic sounds better processing wise but the music still needs something. Here's one; SOMEONE PLEASE CHALLENGE THE BEAT!!! if that happens in the next year we could see KTFM at No 1 12+.

Talk radio: KTSA and Duel put me to sleep almost as bad as Messer and Wiglesworth. Bolton's okay but he can get a little silly. His Aircraft Carrier show was good radio though. KLUP? Are they still on the air?

This city is ready for a new format. Jack, Alternative, Jazz, Dance, Polka hymns... Anything that is different. Please?

Okay, enough from me. I'm done now.

I agree, KJ's imaging is absolutely the worst ever. I disagree, KJ is not one of the best sounding country stations anywhere any longer. I do think KCYY and KVET are much better sounding overall. KVET's Ray Benson v/o's and acoustic sounding jingles make it sound like an authentic or dare I say it a "Genuine" classic country station.

If KAJA is trying to sound a little more mainstream, they should have tried to sound similar to their sister KASE. Although, KASE didn't have a good showing this last book.
