This doesn't make any sense....

I have been looking at TV listings for New Year's Eve around the Southeast. Many smaller cities are airing coverage of the Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta. However there is one city missing from the list that gets to see it-Atlanta?! Could someone please explain this to me. WXIA has been hosting the syndicated broadcast so who is doing it this year since no station in Atlanta is showing it? This makes no sense whatsoever. If the host city doesn't see coverage of its own premiere NYE event, than how come a bunch of other cities are getting to see it?
______________

BD Bopper,
WXIA will carry the Peach Drop, from 11:35-2006. Paul Osmmann and Holly Firfer will cohost.
Earlier in the evening,WXIA will also air part of the Sugar Bowl Parade in Downtown Atlanta.

Thank you for clearing that up. All of the TV listings I have seen for New Years EVE on WXIA have Carson Daly's NBC show instead. I am glad that the listings are incorrect.

What really doesn't make sense is that Channel 11 is airing
the Sugar Bowl Parade Special, but the game itself is on
Channel 2. How did WSB miss out on a promotional opportunity?

I also take it that Carson Daly's show will not air at all
in Atlanta.

They probably decided that it was best just to run the Fiesta Bowl. They're basically nothing but football from 1PM on. There would be a darn-near riot if they bumped a BCS game for "a stupid parade" (as I predict many football plans would call it in such a situation).

The Sugar Bowl Parade is on New Year's Eve and Fiesta Bowl is on Jan 2nd. WSB showing the Sugar Bowl Parade would not interfere with a football game on ABC. WSB showing the parade would beat watching the boring Entertainment Tonight.
______________

D'oh! That's what I get for not knowing what the hell I'm talking about. Sorry 'bout that.

WSB showing the parade would beat watching the boring Entertainment Tonight.

But would get half the rating!
