This device actually predates HD Radio by several years Chuck.

It's a great product from what I hear. I've never actually had the pleasure (or ecstasy?) of using one, but I know several people who've thought of purchasing one, especially toward the beginning of April.

It's true. Humor is an endangered idea these days... Back in the 70's, I remember going to a studio that had a "special" producer's desk. It was just to the right of the “real” console. It had a bunch of knobs and buttons labeled "sweeten," "funk," "enhance," groove, etc. They did absolutely nothing, but it did make the clueless think they were a part of the creative process.

In my concert sound days, I quickly discovered that an oscilloscope connected to the main output of the console kept "producers" occupied. Psycho-acoustics can be a very powerful thing.

Before some companies were taken over by organizations that had the term “Venture Capital” in their names, even the big guys like EV and JBL used to have joke spec sheets buried deep inside in their master catalogs. I’m glad that Rane still has a sense of humor…

I've had something very similar to this installed for a while in my home entertainment system. It's down low on the component tower and is the only device my kids can reach. There are a lot of lights and whatnot that turn on and off, but oddly it doesn't seem to impact the sound of my system at all.

I highly recommend a device like this for anyone with kids or curious employees around who love to play with all the bright shiny equipment.
