This guy gets 5000 TV channels...

I saw a picture of this guy and his dishes in today's Daily News, but it just had a caption without the rest of the story. Thanks for posting that.<P ID="signature">______________

How does he get local tv stations without the FCC or the local stations in his market getting on his arse about it? I would love to know how he gets those local stations.

Two words: "Equity Broadcasting"

They "centralcast" a bunch of stations from studios in Little Rock -- and use free-to-air satellite transmissions to link the Little Rock studio to stations in places like Pullman, WA (UPN affiliate KQUP), Missoula, MT (KMMF Fox/UPN), and many others.

If you look at the close-up view of this guy's house, you can see that in addition to the standard DBS dishes (Dish Network & DirecTV) he has a bunch of other, somewhat larger dishes, these are for the thousands of "free to air" services located globally. There are websites that offer the equipment and tell you how to set it up, and then there's a site that has service listings. http://www.lyngsat.com/ - you can spend hours on that site just looking at what's out there.

WOW! How much does he pay a month? Probably less than I do with Comcast here in Connecticut! :)

I have 5 dishes up, not only do you get local channels, forign tv, you also get sports & news feeds. Get about 400 channels and yea allot of times there is nothing on.

I read about this guy in Maxim about a year ago. Thats the kind of set up I would love to have AND its free. I need to get rid of directv.
