This has turned into the Gainesville Ocala Board, what happened to Jax?

Hey John Jax and Brother Bear,

Where are you guys? Surely there is news about Lex and Terry's triumphant return in October, I mean November. They didn't say what year did they?

And Panhandle, where are you ol' boys at?

It's almost Beer Thirty down here, just thought I'd shake up stuff up North!

Captain, my Captain ...
This Ol' Bear has heard some stuff regarding L&T, but since it has no confirmed legs, I won't spread it here just out of "Professional" courtesy.
I DO know some PPM stuff, but since Bears aren't priveledged to HAVE such info, I really gotta be Sergeant Schultz on it.
"I know nothing ... I see NOTHING!"
I just don't like starting rumors when there's nothing to substantiate them ... But when there IS something to substantiate them ... GAME ON!
But as Frida once said back in the Bear's prime ... I KNOW there's something goin' on.

Thanks Brother Bear,

I thought you Jax boys were on probation or something. When the facts are in, we anticipate your spin.

I believe the reason the Gainesville/Ocala market has been discussed over other markets, lately, is because the Gainesville/Ocala market is where the most activity has been taking place recently, largely with the recent WRUF-FM format change from Rock 104 to Country 103.7 - The Gator. That was and still is BIG news.

We did see discussions with regards to recent changes in Jacksonville with WBOB moving to AM 600, along with brief discussions regarding the first PPM results in that market, and how it may effect the overall Jacksonville radio landscape, namely, what effect, if any, this may have on WFYV.

There has also been some recent talk about the desire to bring News-Talk to the FM band in the Fort Walton Beach and Pensacola markets respectively. One very recent discussion proposed to bring news-talk to classic country formatted WAAZ-FM 104.7 Crestview which serves Fort Walton Beach and parts of Pensacola.

As you can see, although limited, there has been some recent discussions regarding other North Florida markets that exceed the Gainesville/Ocala radio market.

Ahh, Brother Bear, I would expect no one else to refer to that Walt Whitman poem ….”O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done”…in my prime I had to memorize, understand and recite that poem in a school play about President Lincoln…but I digress…

Captain Parrot, I’m not on probation. The big story was the demise of Rock 104. Formats flip all the time but this one was different. The impacts were felt far beyond Gainesville and Ocala because many who made radio a career or tried to do so learned their craft and got a start at WRUF-FM. Even beyond radio, so many things that may have shaped our lives or made us happy are just going away.

Posters to our southwest may be a little more active than normal but that’s because a lot of emotion was stirred up. So they vent. The radio community isn’t different than anyone else. You look around and the folks are generally pissed off at everything because they feel no one is listening to them. So I chose to listen more too.

As far as L&T goes, it’s probably best to not look at the obvious. That seems to be how radio works nowadays.

An interesting landing for L&T (with limited signal though) would be on 105 The Game. Sports with a strong male leaning lead could attract a lot of cume for a station battling with two other sports outlets. It's probably a bad ROI depending on cost, but I've always believed that a personality morning show and sports would be slam dunk on many of those sports stations who can't pull decent am drive numbers. Load it up with quick sports features into the breaks and it could make a ton of sense

[/quote > Jax has two strong AM Shows, both on Country Stations, plus the Ape's and WEJC, why do you need another syndicated Morning Show? L and T ain't local anymore. Time to Move On Dot Jax!
