Found one of these (a Hitachi TH-627R) at an antique store today for $6. Brought her home, popped in a 9 volt...and wouldn't you know, she still works!

Now if only there was some rock & roll she could pull in...<P ID="signature">______________

Sorry about the size of the picture but that's the smallest that my digital camera can do.

It's a late-1950's (not sure of the exact year but I'm guessing 1957) Commodore pocket portable. It was my Grandfather's and he gave it to me in 1966.

It's a 6-transistor job that was made in Japan. I've heard that this Commodore was the same company that eventually went into the computer business but I can't find anything confirming that story.

Still works, but not very well.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, This is classic.. ROCK AND ROLL. God am Rock, what a concept, and what a memory...
 
I remember when radios were actually WELL MADE (Good AM front ends) -- Today all they sell is garbage......
