Is the current programming from 1-4 Eastern on ESPN the permanent replacement for Dan Patrick? Please God, say it isn't. Eric Kusilias is just the worst.

I don't think that replacing Dan Patrick will be very easy at all. First, you have to be a
very good interviewer given all of their paid insiders who come on at a certain time each week to talk about a specific sport. You need to be able to ask good incisive questions. Most talk show hosts that we listen to in local markets do "caller-driven"
shows. Who can transition from that to an interview show? The best ones, I believe,
were at SNR, and I am talking about Tim Brando, James Brown, and Tony Bruno. They
know how to interview. Most in-house people are weak. It isn't Sportscenter.

I realize that. I wonder if maybe they go another way with that time slot though. Why try and do the Dan Patrick Show without Dan? Why not reinvent the wheel the way they did when Collin Cowherd took over for Tony Kornheiser?

Speaking of Tony, have you listened closely to Eric? Does he not have a similar voice inflection
to Kornheiser? If you made a family tree, I would say that Eric was the love-child of Tony, and Tony was the love-child of Woody Allen. I have no idea who fathered Woody Allen.
Needless to say, we need a yet-to-be-discoverd voice to follow Colin. Cowherd came out of
left field and nailed it, and ESPN needs a similar success.
Does anyone have a local success story who could play to the masses across the USA?

I thought the combination a week or two ago of Mike Tirico and Michelle Tofoya was a pretty good tag-team. Having two hosts kept the show moving along. Also, it didn't sound like they were trying to copy the already existing ESPN Radio shows format or anything either.

I argee I did like that Tirico/Tafoya combo. Michelle Tafoya is my kind of girl. I find Tirico better on radio than tv that is just me. I perfer our local hacks though over ESPN or butt kissin' Jim Rome who has tired on me.

I think it's time for ESPN to take a chance in their auditions for the 1-4pm shift. I
would try the dynamic duo of Woody Paige and Jay Marriotti. Don't know how Woody would play on radio, but I thought that Marriotti was much better on radio than on television. It would be interesting to see if they pairing could generate the same chemistry that their "rivalry" does on ATH.

I like the decision to go with Tirico. I thought the various pairings (with Dana Jacobsen, Michelle Tafoya and Scott Van Pelt) were all good with the Tirico/Van Pelt pairing at the top of the group. My biggest concern would be Tirico schedule and whether he misses too many shows because of travel for football/basketball. They need some consistency. That being said, all I was hoping for was for ESPN to put someone on that wouldn't make me turn them off...this will work.
