This is NEWs

Just got back from a great week over on the East Coast of our great state in an area where a poor man's Cadillac is.......a Cadillac! Never have seen so many Bently's in one place! Regardless, it was a great time as grandson #2 came into the world. Upon returning to the Bay area it was very interesting to note that the Eagle is no longer "new"! Quickly, I logged onto radioinfo as no doubt the board would be aglow with hundreds of comments regarding dropping "new" from the station moniker. Seemed as if a week didn't go by with at least one poster complaining about the station using "new" for an extended period of time. It was shocking to see no mention. The big news was Bob and somebody aren't on the air anymore and someone taking a cheap shot at Mike Calta. Really surprised to see no "new" mention.

Hey Frank, I just read your post and turned on the radio to the Eagle, and sure enough no mention of
"The New". It almost sounds like they are using the original same liners but deleted "The New"
I need to stop over soon again, so we can talk radio in person.
Denny

Hey Denny...right you are. Easy edit to the existing liners.

Thanks Carney! That's very nice of you.

Just noticed a post on the Atlanta board that the similarly formated Cox station, "The River" is no longer "new" either as of a couple weeks ago. Anyone know if The Eagle in Jacksonville has also dropped "new"? And there you have it... generic, cookie cutter radio.

No, In Jacksonville it is still The "New" 969 The Eagle. Was over there during the weekend. "The River" dropped the "New" a few monthes back.

Wow, I did not know that, to quote Carsenio. Hard to believe the Beagle (Bay + Eagle) dropped their "new" after only ten years or so. What were they thinking?! In England, people refer to the "new" town hall (the one built in 1689) to differentiate it from the original one, erected in Roman times...

Perhaps no one noticed the Beagles giant positioning switch because they said the word "new" so many times (13,642,817 to be exact) that the word simply ceased to exist in the auditory universe. Steven Hawking mentioned that in one of his books. Plus that amazing feature of the human brain that ceases to process auditory input as soon as the song ends and a DJ begins talking. This little-known physiological quirk was cleverly exploited by Tesla as part of his "death ray" machine. I believe Downtown Dave is planning to use that on Lola soon....
