...thank God! :)

The current issue of Radio World has a nice story about Fisher's new hyperlocal sites and its plans to connect with the communities - and monetize it by selling ads to local shops that might not consider running ads on the full-market signal.

What a great idea! Seriously. People have been saying for years now that radio needs to get local again and whaddya know - that's EXACTLY what Fisher's doing.

If you want to read the RW story you'll have to go to rwonline.com and register, or you can read some of the details on their sites at http://www.techflash.com/seattle/2009/09/qa_why_fisher_komo_are_jumping_into_hyperlocal_news.html.

Now, back to your regularly-scheduled KIRO bashing and multiple requests for Seattle radio history info...

unfortunately, last month, Fischer's "hyperlocal community blogs" were caught ripping-off content on the "hyperlocal community blogs" that already existed and pull in more traffic before their johnny-come-lately arrival ... bet Radio World didn't mention that
