KHMX Benefits Most From PPM In Houston

The Clear Channel Hot AC known as "Mix 96.5" saw a 4.5 12+ AQH share difference in the PPM versus the traditional Arbitron diary during the months of May, June and July, according to research released today by Coleman.

Among the other stations to show a bump from the PPM: Country KILT and Alternative KTBZ, which each saw a 2.3-share increase in the PPM. AC KODA, CHR/Pop KRBE, Smooth Jazz KHJZ and Classic Rock KKRW also saw notable gains in the PPM results.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, News/Talk KPRC saw a 2.4-share decrease in the PPM when compared to the written diary. Other commercial stations, including Sports KBME, Hispanic Urban KLOL and News/Talk KTRH, saw 1.0-share dips in the PPM results.

The results are a reflection of the PPM's ability to measure a station's reach, rather than frequency, and Arbitron has explained that cume levels have soared with PPM while Time Spent Listening — a strong point for Spanish-language stations and Talk stations — has decreased.
