This is weird... Involving streaming Dance from the UK

The other night my GF in Virginia and me,, of course in indiana where both locked into Shine 87.9.com and every song I heard would be about 5 minutes or 1 song ahead of hers... I realized what she was heaing had already played here,,, both of us where on the same exact 128k stream.... How and why did this happen.. I know streaming has a delay,,, but shouldnt everyone logged into the same bitrate hear the stream at exactly the stream,,, why did hers stream lag behind,,, maybe cause she has DSL and I have a 16 MGBIT connection???????? I still wouldnt think it matters??? I am still scratching my head over this.
