This is what I mean about WYSP

I was shopping at a certain store tonight, in a large mall and WYSP was on, at 7PM they stopped the music and went into this Eagles show(yawn). Need I say, the radio was immediately switched to WMMR and never turned back. I wonder how many other radios were changed and kept on WMMR, remember there is no Y-100 to fall back on, so its a process of elimination and the worst of the worst for the rock fan. I for one was glad they switched the dial. I would imagine more radios were changed to WMMR from WYSP than WMMR to WYSP to hear this early in the year Eagles show. My point is, why interrupt the music for sports, either be a music intense rock station or a talk/sports format. Just my 3 cents worth.

MMR would jump at the Eagles in a second if they could. Besides, rock and football go hand in hand. WDVE Pittsburgh, a mainstream rock station, has dominated that market with the combination of rock and roll and Steelers football. Moreover, with rock radio as stale as it is currently, its nice to have Football and football related shows to attract listeners. The Linkin Parks of the world aren't attracting the listeners. The commericial rock product is crap at the moment.

I hear you there, but truthfully I think the Eagles with WYSP is a good fit, Their are many positives to being the exclusive home to the Eagles, If I recall YSP had a huge upswing in their ratings last year when the Eagles where on their Super Bowl run. And I believe WMMR would jump on the chance to nab the Eagles coverage away from WYSP!

And then people won't know if they're listening to WMMR or Y-100 because they'll be listening to Matt Cord!

The pros' ,way, out way the cons. Looking at the big picture this is non-issue.

I'm not so sure about that, WMMR has ALWAYS been about ROck music, hell they've even had a shortage of westwood one specialty shows, which is refreshing. Allthey do is play non-stop rock music, block after block after block....etc

Interesting, but overall probably meaningless to WYSP. What does being background in a mall store get you on the ratings side? Until portable automativ measurement devices are commonplace, nothing. Conversely, the percentage of their core audience tuning out was likely relatively low, most likely balanced by Eagles fans tuning in for the start of the Birds programming. If football and MOR can blend, football and rock most certainly can.

And how many of them were tuning away from sister station WIP?

Seems WMMR jumped on board with YSP and hired John Ritchie for a new evening show with Matt Cord and its two hours!!!!!!!!!!!!
so now what are you going to do every Monday night at 7PM?

I remember Cord did a show last year on Y-100 with Runyon on Monday nights and it flopped, from what I was told. Why don't a few of the urban outlets carry Eagles, there are enough of them to still satisfy the rappers. Why do the ONLY TWO so-called rock outlets have to pre-empty music for sports??
