Tunes like these...Whenever a teenager cries-Reparata and the Delrons and Mr. Sun Mr. Moon Paul Revere and thats just to name a few of the hundreds and hundreds of cuts like these on the wmid playlist......the reason this is on the Philly board is for those who dont know these tunes...because no other Philly oldies station touched them is no excuse for them not to be played.....I dont know if they were ever played on WIBG or WFIL one was too old for FIL but Paul Reveres was in WFIL's time....

I imagine WMID is targeting a 55 plus audience, which is fine for a little AM station in Atlantic City. And yes, I know at one time they were the power house at the shore..so my comment is not meant as a slam.

But this is 2010.....if you really expect OGL or any other future gold station in Philly to touch this stuff. forget it. Maybe if WHAT were to evolve away from standards.that's about it.

Tune would probably be considered an IPOD classic......

Its nice to have them still playing the oldies that SHOULD be played, like on www.oldiesradio1620.com

...or like www.veronicafm.org (a shameless plug)...all 50s and 60s and a heck of a lot more than 500 songs from each decade.

By the way, I was down the shore a couple of months ago and spend a lot of time listening to WMID. I love the music; but hey, I'm in my late 50s so what do I know? ::)

They are the best.... and I bet I am older than you lol 60....where can you hear Ballad of a Teenage Queen followed by Hear Comes the Night followed by Dont bet money honey....I dont think Sirius/XM can even beat that....Would it work in the Philly market....U-BET...

I sampled both and noticed oldiesradio1620 did not have any stereo separation, when I first tuned in Susan from the Buckinghams was playing, which is a great stereo recording... vocals in one channel, instruments in the other but that was not present both channels were mixed, the follow up was Absolutely right from the five man electrical band which is a fantastic tune, great to hear, ..this is what oldies station should play, then a Hollies tune but no separation and the Hollies are know for great left to right separation....I know WMID is a mono AM signal but on line their stereo separation is superior...Then I tuned into veronica and their stereo was great Dion was on and great left to right separation also on Love is a hurting thing from rawls the separation was great..I guess in a nutshell 1620 plays more oh wow tunes but veronica has the better stereo effect just my two cents worth :)..are these two station available over the air...

Veronica rocks! A stream I regularly visit.

WMID, while basically an Internet jukebox, is a damned good/deep one! They play stuff that no one else touches, ever. Would it work in Philly? Hard to say. It all seems to be about the youthful demos these days. I'm 50, so I don't count, despite the fact that I have a really nice disposable income now...ironic, huh?

Veronica can be heard on 91.3FM in the immediate West Point, PA area. With the extremely low signal allowed on FM it doesn't get out too far...just around our small community.

Oasis We don't have any stereo seperation because we're in full track mono and most of the music we play was never recorded in stereo. Why waste the bandwidth?
