Furthermore....

Prime example of the mentalities of some who post here as to why there's so much venom.

"Yep. And proud of it. I'm on the right side, which is the left. And we won't be left behind. Dennis is lucky all Mercury did was call him the Pillsbury Doughboy. He's actually a Racist Dough-boy - getting his dough from anti-gay and anti-children smears. How can ANYONE defend John Dennis? "

What? The left never smears? The left never throws daggars at the president, or anyone who believes in conservative views? Naaa, they'd never do that. My point is - and some of you proved it in this thread, there's a level of seething anger with some of you that provokes you to write hate-filled diatribes. Some of you use this forum to further your political agenda. THAT'S NOT WHAT THIS BOARD IS ABOUT. And in the end, that behavior turns more people off to your side of the arguement than anything else. This means both conservatives and liberals cut it out!!! Talk about radio. And if this crap doesn't stop I'll ban the entire realm of talk radio here and send you to the Talk Radio board to hash this stuff out. Just because we have talk stations in Boston doesn't give you guys free reign on this forum.

Now... I'm going to close this thread, and tell you all to QUIT talking about this. Clean it up or be gone. I'm trying to run a professional forum here.

I'll leave where I started this thread with yesterday.

==

Calling someone the Pillsbury Doughboy is NOT appropriate behavior. Telling someone they make them sick is NOT appropriate for posting. Those are two prime examples of personal attacks which are not allowed here.

You wanna know why I take down entire threads? That's why. And by the time I get to looking at one, there's a dozen posts already - so the whole thing goes.

If you can't discuss programming and radio-related issues exclusively, don't post at all.
Edited by classicradionut on 06/10/05 07:54 PM.

Lighten up will you !
You have a prejudice against the Pillsbury Doughboy?
If you think that is a personal attack it may reveal your prejudice.
If the Pillsbury Doughboy is so negative why is Pillsbury still using him as their logo.
As they say, "one picture is worth a thousand words..." or croissant rolls...
;-)

Not true. This is Radio-Info.com...not Radio-Personality-Weight-Info.com. I had a board like this for television not too long ago and it was the same way, most of the population plays nice, then one person, who in this case happens to have a name that is the closest planet to the sun, makes a stupid comment and makes what is a pretty good board a firing range...

Opinions are one thing...but straight insulting for no reason shouldnt be tolerated.

Who said the Pillsbury Doughboy is a Negative?

Again, you too must have a problem with the Pillsbury Doughboy and see that as a negative. Pillsbury use him as their logo. John Dennis should be proud of who he is and what he looks like.
John is certainly a great talent and does well on both radio and TV. No one here is challenging that.

Can a Radio-Info God apply armageddon to his account please? Thanks.

Obviously, the Pillsbury Doughboy is a ficitious character, as used by Pillsbury. It's not a real person, so they're not insulting anyone.

When you say that someone looks like the Pillsbury Doughboy, you're insulting a real person.

Stand by your posts

Would you have the same sense of humor if someone were to make a comment about one of your physical features? something about you having a pug nose for example?. How would that relate to your abilities on air? Im no John Dennis fan I think he exemplifies the worst of what talk radio as a whole has become but that is very different than a personal attack on the man's physical appearance or character. You cant now say "what's worng with the Pillsbury doughboy" when called on the carpet about it, it obviously was not meanta s aa compliment. Be a man and stand by what you post if it's negative and you get heat for it take the heat and movee on, dont try to back peddle and claim it was innocent. That insults the intelligence of all here.

this board has become nothing but drama, and the over censoring proves it.

It's always been this way Travis and you have been a huge part of that negatvity in some of your posts and I know you dont even realize it. I have too. Some peeople try to personalize everything making attacks on people that they hear and do not like, it's really nothing new.

Re: This is why I delete posts

Why would Pillsbury develop a fictious character that would adversely affect the sale of their fine product? If I had referred to Dennis as the Michelin Man would you have taken offense as well...?

For the record, I have a body of well tempered steel, straight white teeth and am a swell dancer.....

Re: Stand by your posts

More than that, it has lost its sense of humor if it ever had one.

Clear and Simple

My post for God's sake was NOT a personal attack on John Dennis but just an observation that all could make on a picture of him which appeared in The Boston Globe. If you don't like the picture complain to the Globe. Repeating myself but I think John Dennis has demonstrated that he is a broadcaster of many talents and would like to see his career continue for many years - thereby my concern. OK? Get it? Clear and simple enough? AMEN !

How about referring to people in jest, like me calling Howie Carr the master
of fried clams and tar-tar sauce? He says it on his show all the time. Guess
referring to Mike Barnicle's journalistic misadventures is off limits, too.

Oh well, I'll try to be fair and play nice or is it be nice and play fair.

Re: This is why I delete posts

It doesn't adversely affect the sale of their product to use a fictitious character, as many companies do. If the symbol didn't work for them, they wouldn't have been using it for decades.

That has nothing to do with saying that a real person looks like the Pillsbury Doughboy, which is an insult to that person.
