I have this from a friend who is an advertiser on Platinum 96.7:

As of Noon on Friday, March 12th, Platinum 96.7 ceases to exist. I will not mention names but this comes from an extremely reliable source who was contacted by their Platinum sales rep earlier today to let them know of the change and that 96.7 will begin simulcasting WBAP at that time.

The person that called me is someone I've known for years and was calling me to ask if I'd heard. I guess we'll all find out tomorrow at noon.

I know what Debi makes. Ron encouraged the powers-that-be to spend some relatively decent money to get her over there, and she deserves every penny.

Vic Thomas surely draws a good salary, and should, since he handles PD and jocking duties. Then again, Ron's doing most of Vic's job for free.

Larry and Gail? Who knows, but I doubt Larry would get out of bed that early if the money wasn't fair, especially after leaving a pretty cherry gig at Salem to go back on the air.

Add all of those salaries up, and put them against ZERO cost to simulcast WBAP (save for the electric bill) and you've got the perfect candidate for 'Citadel 2010': an easy business choice to make that's a quick $$$ fix and requires little thought or consideration. Besides, KPMZ's stronger signal to the north puts the conservative talkers into the "right" ears. 96.7 will never be a "permanent" replacement for 820, tho. Maybe WBAP can finally bring in listeners that are younger than the AM radio average of 56.

Me, I hope it doesn't happen. I'll listen to it as much as I did The Twister...zero. But wouldn't it have been nice to hear Willie Landum and Sam from Sales and Chief Wilbur Wetfeather and Dr. Ben Golfin and Pedro from Payroll and all the other "Fun Guys" in stereo? (Wouldn't it be nice to ever hear them AGAIN???) Maybe if there's no copyright issue, Dick Siegel can use them all in San Angelo instead.

Ummm, it's 5:50AM and Larry and Gail are not on the air on Platinum. Now I haven't listened this early (well, late in this case) since June 30, 2009, and both were always on the air for my rather early drive in to work, when I used to have a job.

Wow, does this mean if I had made the transition to Metro, I could be simulcasting flawed and dated traffic reports IN STEREO now?

Ron's voice is still gracing the promos, but no mention of any jocks at all.

Kinda reminds me of when Memories went away...poor Randy Fuller holding together the overnights, knowing full well he was about to be out of a job. Then suddenly you hear Laurie Bandemir and Vic Thomas from the "corporate" Memories format at ABCRN, used as filler for a day or two until The Twister signed on.

Ronald Reagan would approve this message.

I guess you were right on about 96.7 stunting with "Reagan Radio" all weekend long! :D
