This just in...

Oh, I'm sorry...I have a life outside this message board

But you assume that I don't work in radio, or that you guys are the only ones who work in the industry. If you guys knew everything about radio then you would be the head honchos of CBS and/or Clear Channel right now. You aren't. Yes, I understand that there are dullards who make stupid posts on any message board. But, if you don't like it, then ignore it. I'm sure that you both are successful GM's and know how to run your respective stations, but understand some hard truths...you guys aren't the Wizards of radio.

Do Larry Lucchino, Tom Warner, and John Henry get on the Sox message boards and tell their fans that "you guys don't know anything about Baseball?" No. IT'S A MESSAGE BOARD THAT'S OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Also, part of the GM and/or PD's job description is to tell the on-air people like us how to do our job.

Wow, heaven forbid that people make a hypothesis, or have an opinion, based on their interests.

"Hey, I don't like how my local politicians are spending my $$$, but since I'm not in politics, I shouldn't vote or complain nor make suggestions because a seasoned pol knows what to do." -Makes perfect sense to me.

or that you guys are the only ones who work in the industry.
Nobody has made that assumption. Show me where we've said that.

You're right. We never claimed to know everything about Radio. In fact, if you look at the another thread here, you'll see where I say there's always someone who knows more than we do.[/font]

You're right. Nor have we ever claimed to be.

You couldn't be more wrong. See my last post. Suggestions and opinions are fine and welcomed (AGAIN, it appears you didn't read my last post) but if people with 25+ years of experience tell you WHY Urban AC isn't going to work in Boston, repeating the same statement hundreds of times is just ridiculous.

There you go repeating yourself again. [/font

Not necessarily YOU...I think that I'm referring to all GM's who think that they know everything and talk down to others because they run a small little AM station that doesn't show up on the Arbitron ratings, and has little bandwidth...but I just digress

You're right. Nor have we ever claimed to be.

Just making sure...

Fair enough, but there's a smarter and less condescending way of saying it to people. Snapping on a message board doesn't make your opinion anymore right than the other. What's the old saying about fighting online is like the Special Olympics?

Also, I don't particularly think that Urban AC would work here myself, but getting upset about it puts you in the same realm as LAUROJIM and the ilk.

Again, you're right but you're not seeing my point. When someone can't/won't understand very simple explanations of why something isn't realistic but yet continues to restate that opinion it's annoying. The 1st 600 or so times everyone was polite, but has degenerated into something akin to a 4 year old asking "are we there yet?" every 30 seconds. We've run out of ways to say it. All we ask is that the whole Urban AC thing be put to bed.
To continue the police analogy, I make a suggestion on a police board. An officer with years of experience tells me why it's not realistic. I don't then continue to repeat the same suggestion for years. I respect his experience and let it go. That's the issue here.

Sir, you have won the Internet.

I remember when i suggested that Boston needed another chr to compete with Kiss&Jam'n and got slammed for it. I guess CBS agreed with me. ;D

I'll settle this whole thing. I know you are, but what am I? Take that!

Please stop tormenting him. The Mel Karmazin of New England has stations to run. The torment is clearly distracting The Genius and we can't have that.

Go read his ratings book.

Or something.

I haven't heard anything about the main channel but I won't say where or how I heard that there will be J-Pop on the HD-2, and K-Pop on HD-3, so maybe a multicultural format??

(did I get anyone with that? Even for a moment as you read it? No? Oh well, I missed out on doing anything for April Fools this year and have been trying to find little ways to make up for it)

The only point to be made is that opinions are fine. However, they are not really worth much,
practically speaking, if they have nothing by way of experience or expertise to back them up.
Our stations here serve a niche audience. We are not in competition with major market signals,
nor do we claim to be. Let's see: happy owners, happy programmers, happy audiences, happy ME.
Oh yea - and we are also turning a profit. Yea, I hate that! ;D
