This one is flawed from the get-go...

Calvary Chapel wants to move their 95.5 translator to 92.1, requesting a minor change waiver because of co-channel interference from KUIC in Vacaville:

http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_list.pl?Application_id=1809916

Ummm.... First of all, 95.5 and 95.3 are adjacent channels. Not co-channels. 2nd, they obviously never looked to see how strong KVMX is in Sacramento. That 92.1 signal from up by Mt. Aukum is truly co-channel. Not adjacent. It will completely eliminate coverage from an already-compromised translator. Third, displacement apps are only good for when a new station comes on, right? KUIC has been around for longer than the translator.

Let's see what happens with this one...

On a side note, I wonder where they're getting the "direct off-air" signal from KAWZ as required by the rules. That's a fancy antenna they must be using out there at Elverta Road.

Agree, this makes no sense.

Sacramento is just becoming a lot of noise on FM.

Dave,

I wonder why they even applied for this.
The 50 dBu contour on KVMX literally blankets the proposed translator site.

There was recently another LPFM or translator application on 92.1 in the area that was dismissed by the FCC. The application was obviously prepared by a consultant out of state only looking at protected contours. If I recall, Lotus protested the application based on the actual field strength at the proposed transmitter site, thereby causing interference. I'll try to dig up the application file. A consultant could easily run a Longley Rice calculation for KVMX to check for such an interference condition. I'm sure this is on Lotus' radar.
