This post about Terry Bradshaw is late in coming but-

I have often stated that a well-kept secret in local talk radio is The Edge, 1550. Granted, with its signal it can't compete with 104.7 or KDKA, but it still has some rather good syndicated programming- Imus, G. Gordon Liddy, Tom Veykis, etc.

Today I was listening to Imus on the station and they had a laugh-out-loud interview with Terry Bradshaw- who Imus has on almost every Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. during the football season. Bradshaw was joking and laughing with Don Imus- suggesting they should play the lead roles in a "Brokeback Mountain" sequel.

Now, I realize they don't have the budget to got out and put billboards that say "BRADSHAW-IMUS- 8:30 FRIDAY MORNINGS! PITTSBURGH'S BEST TALK THE REST OF THE WEEK! THE EDGE 1550!"

But in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, wouldn't running a promo every so often on their airwaves seem wise to promote this, complete with a few cuts?

We are talking about Terry Bradshaw, the only station that has him per se, and Pittsburgh. And the power is turned up for his interview.

For a station looking for listeners, why wouldn't they promote this more?

Bradshaw won't be on anymore until September, but it might be wise for them to footnote this for next fall.

Nobody but a radio geek is going to sail by 1550, and unless he's talking about the Steelers, nobody cares what Bradshaw has to say.

Touting it on their own airwave wouldn't cost anything. And it would be worth every penny they spent on it.

Billboards or other media would be too expensive, but I'm sure they could scrape up enough money to buy lunch for a few newspaper writers. Good PR can be as effective as good advertising.
