THIS SMELLS OF WNYG

My wife tells me this funny story. Her boyfriend prior to meeting me was a big '50s fan. He won tickets from a radio station she believes that was on Route 109 for a '50s show. They picked up the 2 tickets. One problem. You would think that the seats would be next to each other. Ohh no! One was over here. The other was over there! Smells of WNYG back in the day!

That's nothing. A small AM station in Central Connecticut called my father up at random and asked him a trivia question "What Restaurant can you have it you way?" And of course my father answered "Burger King" correctly. Then the station told him he had to pay $20 to pick up his prize and my father told him where they could stick that prize. The station was a mess financially and to me it was no surprise they wanted to charge people for winning prizes. A year or so later the entire station was LMA'd to Spanish Language Broadcasters who eventually bought the station outright and continue to run in successfully today.
