For either OMW (aka Mighty Blog of Fun (TM)) or Paul Orlousky to investigate.

Posted at the Cleveland.com forum, by "Zeplin" who has been relatively well-informed on things:

"I heard that there are talks to move Trivissono to one of the Clear Channel FM's. Either that or a simulcast of WTAM in afternoon drive. The most likely candidate would be WMJI since they could play Triv off Lanigan with phony feuds and other cross promotion."

Second thoughts...can't be Orlousky. Cleveland Police aren't involved.

John, sounds like something Orlo would like to sink his hooks in, but until it happens, I don't see him doing a fool-scale investigation. Knowing Oak tree these days, anything is possible with throwing Triv on MJI. Since there is no love lost (at least on the air) between Mike and Lanigan, it could make for an interesting cross-drive-duel.

I do know one thing for certain, with 24 pre-sets on my car radio, PM drive in this town is sterile. I punch back and forth on the way home to see who's chain Triv is pulling. Classic Rock is putrid across the dial. I don't know how much longer I can stomach the constant diet of Free Bird, Layla, or anything by Queen. Same songs, over and over. A lot of these songs should have been released with an expiration date stamped on them.

Guess that leaves it to the entire Ohio Media Watch Staff, eh? :)

I'll start up front...I haven't heard any of these rumblings at OMW World Headquarters. I'll continue to watch the smoke signals from Oak Tree, though...

One note, though. Unlike some of the wild speculation that ran freely in the past, this doesn't suggest a format change. At least in the information you posted at any rate.

It's obvious you've given up.

You should turn your radio off and never turn it on again.
Edited by freddyp on 01/14/06 02:02 PM.

Wow. I have a hard time seeing that happen. They would never take Triv off TAM to put him on MJI. Triv has more or less dominated the afternoon drive in Cleveland, why would you put him on an FM with a weaker signal? Besides, that show brings in so much money...why would you mess with that?
It would be a ratings disaster. Ratings are based on listening habits and everyone knows where Triv is. You'd lose listeners on both stations. The people that want the music on Majic would be pissed and the people that listen to Triv on TAM(obviously, even though nobody seems to admit it, there are a ton of them) would be pissed. And, although it probably doesn't mean much, it's not like NOBODY is listening to "Action". He's had very good numbers recently, has he not? A simulcast...well, I guess that makes a little more sense, stil....
One more thought, MJI and TAM are the jewels of that cluster (no offense to the others). I, in my very inexperienced opinion, would think it would be very dangerous to mess with your top two (or did GAR jump ahead?) rated and billing stations at the same time.

Interesting thought though.... Guess we now have our daily dose of speculation to banter about.

I dont see it happening. TALK in PM drive on a music station? Why? What's the benefit to the 'MJI listener? If they want talk, or Triv, I'm sure they know where to find him. Doesn't make sense. Not to mention that MJI is in no way of needing Triv's "help" with ratings or billing.

Maybe they are planning a "Hot Talk" station? With Free-Fm maybe talk on FM will become another trenda (ala "Jack").

Not unheard of (CC's Pittsburgh news-talk is an FM). But in the Steel City's case, the leading N/T then (and less os now) was Infinity's KDKA. CC already has the leading N/T in Cleveland with WTAM.

I don't know what the situation is. I don't necessarily believe it, but it was thought-provoking and from a past-credible source, so I thought I'd post the nugget.

No, Not Free FM

> Maybe they are planning a "Hot Talk" station? With Free-Fm

We're risking going into Massive Speculation Territory here...back when WTAM was hinting at major changes last year, when we all but changed WMVX/106.5 to an FM sports talker in our minds. :D (As it turned out, the changes involved dumping Premiere's Glenn Beck for CC/AAR liberal host Jerry Springer.)

A few things are wrong with this scenario.

For one, it's Clear Channel, not Infinity. Clear Channel has indeed launched a couple of big market FM talkers (WPGB/Pittsburgh, and the new Minneapolis talker). But in both markets, CC didn't have an established AM station that could be converted.

WBGG/970 ("Fox Sports 970") isn't a big enough signal to do the job in Pittsburgh, and they had a full-market floundering FM to use instead. CC's big AM in Minneapolis is long-established sports talker KFAN/1130, which would not be blown up for a new talker. Like in Pittsburgh, 100.3 in Minneapolis was a full-market, underperforming music station (smooth jazz in that case).

In Cleveland, ANY new CC talker would have to play second fiddle to the Big One, WTAM.

Does that preclude moving Triv? I don't know. But what are they gonna put on 1100 if Triv moves to FM, as has been speculated elsewhere? Hannity? I just don't see WTAM going out of live/local in PM drive. A lot about this doesn't "fit" in my head. I don't know who "Zeplin" is, or what connection they have with Oak Tree, but I'd need to hear a few more facts first.
