In the 1940's every individual neighborhood in Pittsburgh (basically meaning within a few blocks radius) had it's own movie theater. And very often more than one. I suspect most other industrial cities in the Northeast
and the Midwest were no different. The demand for content must have been absolutely huge then, and as
always, some content is better than others.
Also I'm sure that some of the more struggling theater owners were consigned to the "B" grade stuff.
