this tv?

This TV is the weakest of the retro channels, IMO. Me TV and Antenna TV are much better.

I enjoyed some of the theatrical movies and animated cartoon series ThisTV provided in the past. My personal favorites from among the cartoons were "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog", "Sonic Underground", "Journey to the West", "Gadget Boy's Adventures in History", "Inspector Gadget", "Spider Riders", and "The Busy World of Richard Scarry".

I was glad I was able to access ThisTV's programming just before all of those animated cartoons were removed from their regular programming schedules since the signal from my local ThisTV station (WFGX-TV in the Mobile, Alabama-Pensacola, Florida TV market) was not always available in my area and I was just as glad about the station broadcasting those programs at all since they did not broadcast all of ThisTV's programs on their main channel or use a digital sub-channel for broadcasting all of those programs. I wish they had considered having a sub-channel for broadcasting all of the programs; it would have strengthened ThisTV in many ways both locally and nationally.

I like watching a good movie on ThisTV once in a while. Still in Seattle on KOMO 4.2.

I believe KMSB 11.2 switched to "Movies!," correct? Somehow, I think Weigel convinced some of the ThisTV stations to switch to Movies! because This's move to Tribune meant new equipment, adjusting the receive dish, etc. that stations find a hassle (This and Movies! had been on the same transponder, IIRC).

I also think Weigel's presentation of This was more polished than the new Tribune product. This is coming from someone who has been begging for Antenna TV in my market because their programs fit my tastes better, but still think Me-TV's presentation is top-notch.

As for the weakest retro channels, I believe Luken's services are now the worst.

I hear you. I like Me-TV and Antenna, but I think I watch more on Antenna.

This TV has been OFF in Atlanta on 32.9 for several days now. Don't know what's up with that, 32 is not the
most reliable station.

In Chicago, This TV moved over to WGN-TV 9.3, & it'll take viewers time to adjust to a new channel. I don't know where it'll be on cable though. With This TV off of WCIU 26.5, Weigel Broadcasting moved Bounce over to 26.5 in order to reach the entire market better. Wherever This TV used to be on cable, is now home to Bounce, & that too is taking some time for viewers to adjust to a new station carrying the network.

As for This TV being part of Tribune, Tribune will lock down the satellite signal to only be available to affiliates, whereas Weigel had it unencrypted on FTA satellite in either the C-Band, or Ku Band. I don't know if Movies is available on FTA satellite or not from the source.

The Weigel services are all located on the SES-1 bird at the 101 degree orbital. http://www.sathint.com/ses-1 shows that Movies! is unencrypted as well.

sathint.com shows Antenna TV sharing transponder space with WGN America on Galaxy 14, a bird normally used by cable networks and not services meant for broadcast channels. I'm not sure if Tribune's plans are to place ThisTV on a G14 transponder and encrypting it (if they haven't already).
