Look for this co-ordinated attack by the GOP machine, backed by the party and FCC wags, to sprout all over the dial. It seems that a bottom feeder inside the Beltway has there hands on a non-story regarding some "pages" found by some hack that says it was a pervious administration that failed to protect our country.
All week look for the right to slam Bill Clinton at 570, 710 and 770. Since this story doesn't jibe with the 9/11 commission findings expect the talkers to take some shots there as well, even though the bi-partisan commision was headed by a former GOP Governor. And you'll hear over and over again this week the similarities between the "bogus" 9/11 commission findings and another GOP spin target, the UN. In particular they'll spend hours of airtime slamming the oil-for-food program.
By Tuesday some syndicated talker will be griping about how the "liberal" media hasn't picked up this non-story. By Wednesday or Thursday Rush will spend his entire show blaming the media on this. And most Americans, like some on this board, won't care because they won't see or hear this mularkey anywhere else except talk radio and FOX. And still others will brush off this media event by claiming "it isn't radio" or "it's only entertainment".
It's starting to get very predictable.
Any of you GM's and Market Managers starting to feel your stomach turn a little bit about those AM stations within your cluster? And for those of you protecting an Air America stations liscense I wouldn't be surprised if some stooge came sniffing through the public files. You might want to have a lawyer make sure all the I's are dotted and T's are crossed.
