This Weekend on Hot 107.7

Has anybody had a chance to listen to Hot 107.7 this weekend's "Blue-Eyed Soul Weekend"? I had a chance to listen to them Friday night and I was surprised with what I heard. They played series of songs that ranged from Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body" to the George Michael's former duo Wham and many soft rock songs in between. I know this is an attempt to widen their audience appeal, but most of these songs are just way too out there for its core demo. IMO, an Urban AC were to attempt something like this it would need to be in a more diversified market like Fresno, Sacramento, or Portland, but not in Birmingham. Most core listeners of the Urban ACs in this market are just way too conservative for a station to pull something like this and not be turned off by what their hearing. <P ID="signature">______________

I'm so tired of luke-warm 107.7 with the stupid playlist. Yeah, I heard 107.7 playing that stupid rock music on there Saturday. I was like what the f*** are they playing? What is that station's format, for real?

I wish they would just go after 95.7 Jamz, and play some rap already. 95.7 Jamz plays the same 20 songs over and over again, and they trust to call themselves "Birmingham's #1 for Hip-Hop and R&B", please you're the only hip hop station in B'ham. On top of that Jamz doesn't even play any real R&B songs whatso ever beside the same Fantasia, Lyfe Jennings, and Mariah Carey songs over and over again. They also don't play any good hip hop either besides those no name, no talent artists already on their playlist. When it comes to new music both Kiss & Jamz are about 3 months too late, I've heard stations in Montgomery and Huntsville play new music faster than them, but most of the time Jamz just opts to not play it at all. I've yet to hear 95.7 Jamz play any of Common's new songs or anybody that not a wack ass club song rapper that can't rap.

On the other hand, Kiss FM has built a loyal listenership in Birmingham, so why does 107.7 think that they're going to beat it. I remember when I was still in high school when 107.7 WENN was the station to listen to for hip-hop, R&B, and classic soul, but now 107.7 is a discourage to A.G. Gaston's name. I just can't understand that why the newest urban station in our market doesn't have the backbone to compete with the wack ass hip hop station called 95.7 Jamz.

Its ashame that I have to listen to internet radio just to hear new music. <P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by missthang205 on 08/15/05 11:07 PM.</FONT></P>

That is some obvious sock puppetry there, even though he's/they're right and this theme weekend is a stupid idea. . .Maybe it's all a part of some grand scheme and we'll get Crunked Up Weekends on 94.5, 70s Flashback Weekends on 100.5, and Punk Rocks! Weekends on 99.5 . . . :)

I was just about to ask the same thing but I can understand why two users would be irritating, considering it would be nice if this board didn't become petty bickering.

Screw you dude. I could care less what you think. If you paid any attention to my post at Urbaninsite, You would see that I was only defending myself not anyone else. Actually I was shocked that you put my name in there as a suspect. I found it kinda funny, since I am not him. I don't give a damn who you are or who he is. I am my own person. If you paid any attention to my posts on here, you would see that I am a Huntsville listener, because I live here in Huntsville (actually Tony, but close enough). But you only see what you want to see, and read what you want to read instead, and that's my occasional reply to Jaleo's posts. Just because I am an Urban format listener and I post replies to Jaleo every now and then, I must be him? That's rediculous. You think that no one else on this board listens to Urban stations and has an opinion as to how they sound? I've never had any argument with you before, so why are you attacking me? I did nothing to you. Yet you attack me on Urbaninsite and on here, and I never even posted on Urbaninsite until you brought me into you conspiracy theories. Keep my name out your mouth and stop accusing me of stuff that I'm not even involved in because you don't even know me.

Exactly. That's what I hate. I loved this board because it was nice simple radio conversation. Now it's nothing but petty bickering and people attacking you for no reason. Yet another board that people are run out of because of all the hate.

So now that Altrock and passtheword replied to this thread, does that make them the same person as Jaleo to TheX??? That's what I though. Leave me alone. I have no interest in continuing the pointless bickering on here or any other board for that matter.

Funny, I seem to recall a recent 'jaleo23' thread ("Predictions: 1 year from now")where he mentions WEUP being repetitive. And WEUP just happens to be in Huntsville. Coincidence?

Call me crazy--and I'm sure the other posters here think I am. Great. But every 'crackpot connection' I've made has stuck. No matter how hard you've tried, you can't spin your way out of the truth, regardless of the username.

BTW, you're absolutely right. I don't know you. And I'm hella glad I don't, as I prefer living amongst the trustworthy and the mentally stable.
